Michael Ward Tells British GQ why Robert Pattinson is his style icon

Michael Ward (BAFTA Rising Star and face of Simone Rocha’s new collaboration with H&M) recently told British GQ magazine why Robert Pattinson is his style icon:

I like what Robert Pattinson wears. It’s sophisticated but still has that wow factor. You know what you’re getting, but he always surprises you. He really gets it right…

Robert Pattinson’s 15 Favourite Films according to FarOut Magazine

https://twitter.com/RPAustralia/status/1358233699213484033?s=20

We’ve seen Rob’s list before (and from memory I think Criterion Collection was the first to print years ago). But who can forget Rob’s conversation with Jimmy Fallon during Damsel promo when he talked about his love for Corky Romano. Rotten Tomatoes asked for Rob’s 5 favourite films and now Far Out Magazine has decided to print the list again. Here’s an extract from their article:

When asked to collect a list of his most loved pictures by IndieWire and Rotten Tomatoes, the actor explained: “The films that I like aren’t necessarily because they’re good films in themselves — One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is a good film — but that one specifically meant a lot to me.”

He added: “Not because I was in a mental home or anything, but that character influenced me so much when I was 15 or 16, and bits of it stuck with me. A lot of that kind of ‘putting your middle finger up to the world’ attitude — not that I really have that, but…I used to be so timid, and that was one of those films that [helped me break out], by pretending to be [Jack Nicholson’s character] Randle.”

Unable to hide his love for Jean-Luc Godard, Pattinson showed some self-awareness when describing his admiration for the French director: “A Godard film called Prenom Carmen, which sounds like I’m just saying that to be cool, but it’s actually one of my favourite films,” he began.

“I think it’s the best Godard film. It’s like his version of Carmen the opera, one of his films from the eighties. In terms of just pure filmmaking and manipulating an audience, it kind of starts out as a farce, as a complete, stupid farce, with this bank robbery; but it’s really, really…Godardian, with kind of a stupid humour that’s so random. Only he could make it, mixed up with these kinds of philosophical elements.”

Claire Denis talks Robert Pattinson & The Stars at Noon with LeMonde (France)

image host

UPDATED: 4 February 2021

Some fans were concerned that The Stars at Noon disappeared from Rob’s IMDb page, but it is still included on IMDbPro but under “Projects in Development”

https://twitter.com/RPAustralia/status/1356689150301229056?s=20

Deadlline also reported on 3 February 2021:

Production has wrapped on Fire (Feu), the latest movie from French filmmaking royalty Claire Denis. Pic stars heavyweight actors Juliette Binoche and Vincent Lindon, appearing opposite each other for the first time, in a love triangle story about a woman caught between two men – her long-time partner and his best friend, her former lover.

This is the project that was previously reported as being called Radioscopie and was moved swiftly into production when Denis’ The Stars At Noon, set to star Robert Pattinson and Margaret Qualley, was delayed – that movie is now expect to shoot as soon as April.

There’s contradiction on when the film will go into production, Claire Denis in her Le Monde interview below stated end of year (or whenever Rob is ready post Batman), but Deadline and other media have stated April 2021. Whatever it is, Olivier Delbosc, who has collaborated with Claire on the last two movies she has done with Juliette Binoche (not High Life), is now attached as producer to the film through his Curiosa Films.

Robert Pattinson “The Batman” will release in theatres not HBOMax

imgbox

The New York Times spoke with Walter Hamada, President of DC Films who confirmed the studio’s plans to split its slate of superhero projects among theatrical and HBO Max. Here’s what DC proposes to do:

DC Films, which is part of Warner Bros., will work with filmmakers to develop movie offshoots — TV series that will run on HBO Max and interconnect with their big-screen endeavors.

“With every movie that we’re looking at now, we are thinking, ‘What’s the potential Max spinoff?’” Mr. Hamada said.

To make all the story lines work, DC Films will introduce movie audiences to a comics concept known as the multiverse: parallel worlds where different versions of the same character exist simultaneously. Coming up, for instance, Warner Bros. will have two different film sagas involving Batman — played by two different actors — running at the same time.

Mr. Hamada and Mr. Emmerich had two options: Figure out how to make the various story lines and character incarnations coexist or start over.

The answer is the multiverse. Boiled down, it means that some characters (Wonder Woman as portrayed by Ms. Gadot, for instance) will continue their adventures on Earth 1, while new incarnations (Mr. Pattinson as “The Batman”) will populate Earth 2.

The multiverse concept has worked on television, but it is a risky strategy for big screens. These movies need to attract the widest audience possible to justify their cost, and too much of a comic nerd sensibility can be a turnoff. New actors can take over a character; James Bond is the best example. But multiple Gothams spinning in theaters?

“I don’t think anyone else has ever attempted this,” Mr. Hamada said. “But audiences are sophisticated enough to understand it. If we make good movies, they will go with it.”

Mark Rylance Tells Collider “Robert is a phenomenal actor …”

imgbox

Christina Radish from Collider spoke to Mark Rylance and this is what he had to say about working opposite Rob on Waiting for the Barbarians and whether it lifted Mark’s game:

How did an actor like Robert Pattinson compare?

RYLANCE: Robert is a phenomenal actor, who’s doing terrific things. He has a lot of incredible, pent-up, explosive energy that he can share, as an actor, which was very imprisoning, at times, and impressive. He’s very strong.

Jorge Blanco’s First Impression Training Robert Pattinson

image host

I sometimes do Jorge’s classes on my Centr app and didn’t remember he has trained Rob – I guess that’s one degree away (in an alternate world) right? Here’s what Jorge had to say about Rob in a recent interview with Summum:

What is it like to train celebrities? Do you remember any anecdote?

They are more or less known, they are all human beings and for me there is no difference. I’ve been doing it for many years now, but even when I started I never felt weird around celebrities. Their schedules are different, quite complicated in fact. I have many anecdotes that I can tell, for example when I first trained Robert Pattinson, the Twilight actor, who I looked at and thought: “this guy sounds like a lot to me.” I thought he was a model, then when his agent came and made a comment and then I realized who he really was.
