Bérénice Bejo gave an interview to Argentinian “The Nation” and gave a little info about Rob’s character. The plot thickens.
Translation by Google:
“Did you feel the need to seek stronger characters?
…. And the next thing I do is another strong film with the character of a mother whose son is very particular, a little awkward and weird. Over the scenes you’re realizing that it is not a normal guy, he’ll become a monster or something. And it is about the relationship with the mother and father. So good, I read, I liked that I was given a role as well, and I’m going to do. I was lucky to do very different things.
‘And in Hollywood? I guess after your Oscar nomination in 2012 for The Artist, should many proposals to work in the United States have arrived.
A Michel reached him many scripts. I already had two films to make and was not available for two years. And now that I told you that I do, is an American film, a debut, with Tim Roth, that will make my husband, and Robert Pattison [sic], the character of a family friend.”

Not really much to report other than as follows:
Lost City of Z is now listed as “pre production” on IMDBPro as of 20 December 2014.
The film had a quick mention in HitFix article about the Producers Guild Visionary Award honouring Brad Pitt’s Plan B:
“Currently on the Plan B future slate: Angelina Jolie’s “By the Sea,” the long-gestating “Lost City of Z,” …”
We had posted about Sienna Miller’s involvement back in August, and according to Sienna latest interview with Vogue:
“Miller is also signed on for the upcoming Amazon mystery The Lost City of Z, with Benedict Cumberbatch and Robert Pattinson …”

Indiewire talked to Brady Corbet and Mona Fastvold about their movies The Sleepwalker and Childhood of A Leader. Here’s what Brady had to say about Childhood:
“Up next, the duo is officially heading into pre-production for “The Childhood of the Leader,” a period piece that will mark Corbet’s directorial debut and stars…oh just a little-known actor named Robert Pattinson. Though Corbet is holding onto a few secrets about the project, both he and Fastvold hopped on the phone with Indiewire to chat about writing together, first-time directing and their new family member.
…
Brady, you’re making your directorial debut with your next project, “The Childhood of a Leader” starring Robert Pattinson. What inspired you to want to direct? Were you inspired by Mona?
BC: Mona’s nodding her head like, “Yes, that’s right Brady. It was me. It was me.”
MF: [Laughs]
BC: No, what’s actually stranger is that I didn’t attempt to do it sooner. And it’s strange that I kept acting as long as I did because for years I kept threatening to walk away and do something else. But the reason I never did walk away and do something else was I kept having opportunities to work with people I really liked and really loved. I was like, “Ok, I love your work. Absolutely I can spare a week, I can spare a month.” I’ve worked for some people that I would have been happy to come wash their floors on set for a week just to see how they work, much less to have the relationship that an actor and a director get to have with one another, which is very special and sometimes very intimate, very unique. I’ve found every filmmaker I’ve worked with inspiring, Mona included.

Woot woot – film news – what I’ve been waiting for. According to ScreenDaily:
“EXCLUSIVE: Nymphomaniac actress to co-star with Robert Pattinson, Tim Roth and Berenice Bejo.
Stacy Martin, who played the youthful heroine exploring her erotic life in Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac, has joined the cast of Brady Corbet’s The Childhood of a Leader.
…
The Childhood of a Leader, sold by Protagonist Pictures and co-starring Robert Pattinson, Tim Roth and Berenice Bejo, is in pre-production and is set to shoot in Budapest in January.
The $5m feature is a collaboration between Swedish producer Helena Danielsson, Chris Coen from Unanimous Entertainment (UK) and Antoine de Clermont Tonnerre from Mact Productions (France). Co-producer is Ildiko Kemeny of Pioneer Pictures Hungary.
Corbet’s debut
It marks the feature directorial debut of Corbet, a US actor best known for roles in Melancholia, Martha Marcy May Marlene and Thirteen. More recently, Corbet starred in Cannes titles Saint Laurent, Force Majeure and Clouds of Sils Maria as well as Toronto titles Eden, While We’re Young and Escobar: Paradise Lost.
The Childhood of a Leader is billed as “a chilling fable about the rise of fascism in the 20th Centuryâ€.
It tells the story of a young American living in France in 1918 whose father is working for the US government on the creation of the Treaty of Versailles.
What he witnesses helps mould his beliefs and the film bears witness to the birth of a terrifying ego. Martin is to play the boy’s French teacher.
Cult singer-songwriter Scott Walker is composing an original soundtrack for the film.”

IndieWire provides some background on Scott Walker:
“In a bit of genius move, Corbet has managed to nab former pop star turned studious, serious experimental singer Scott Walker to score the movie. It’s a pretty big get considering Walker tends to work at his own pace (he’s gone as long as eleven years between albums). But Walker is also adventurous, recently releasing Soused, a collaborative album with metal band Sunn O))), and we’re eager to see what he’ll come up with here. This isn’t Walker’s first time writing music for a film, as he previously scored “Scott Walker: 30 Century Man” and Leos Carax‘s “Pola X.””

Remember we mentioned here that Childhood of A Leader was scheduled to film in November? Well according to Deadline, Protagonist Pictures is scheduled to do the following:
“Shooting in the next six months are Rebecca Miller’s Maggie’s Plan featuring Greta Gerwig and Julianne Moore; Whit Stillman’s Love & Friendship starring Sienna Miller; Andrea Arnold’s American Honey; and Brady Corbet’s directorial debut The Childhood Of A Leader with Berenice Bejo, Tim Roth and Robert Pattinson.”
So maybe November was just a hunch, nevertheless, it’s filming in the next 6 months which means Rob should be free to work around his other films. Rob and Tim Roth. Rob and Bob DeNiro. Now we just need Rob with Christian Bale, Ed Norton, Charlie Hunnam and/or Clive Owen and I think my world might just be complete. No pressure Rob.
And from Protagonist’s website under new projects:
