LOVE how much news about Life we are getting lately, great to see things are moving along nicely for the film. Can never say enough how excited I am about this project. 2014 is going to be one brilliant Rob year.

From Inside Film: (Bolded parts my emphasis)

Screen Australia board’s first meeting since Graeme Mason was hired as CEO was eventful as the agency approved $11 million investment in four feature films, four adult dramas and one children’s series.

All told, that will trigger $70 million in production. The features include family film Oddball from the team who made Kenny, starring Shane Jacobson and directed by his brother Clayton; and See-Saw Films’ Life, which stars Dane DeHaan and Robert Pattinson.

Two theatrical documentaries were funded: Only the Dead, which explores the career of Australian war correspondent Michael Ware; and Sherpa: In the Shadow of the Mountain, which looks at the drama of a high altitude Everest expedition from the point of view of the Sherpas.

“This is a strong line-up of character-driven feature projects coming from an incredibly talented mix of filmmakers,” said Mason.

Scripted by Peter Ivan, Oddball centres on an eccentric chicken farmer who saves a colony of penguins by putting his sheepdog on their island. The producers are Richard Keddie, Steve Kearney and Sheila Hanahan Taylor; Roadshow will distribute.

Life is a German/Canadian/Australian co-production written by Luke Davies (Candy), the saga of a freelance photographer on assignment for Life Magazine and his friendship with actor James Dean, directed by Anton Corbijn (The American, Control). The producers are Emile Sherman, Iain Canning, Christina Piovesan, Benito Mueller and Wolfgang Mueller. Transmission is the distributor.

In 1955 struggling photographer Dennis Stock (Pattinson) follows up-and-coming movie star Jimmy Dean (DeHaan) for a photo shoot for LIFE magazine. Disappointed by his shots in LA and NY, Dennis goes with Jimmy on a trip to his home in small-town Indiana, and not only comes up with some iconic shots for the not-yet-iconic young actor, but finds himself in the process.

Hmm so Production Weekly are now saying December 2013 status for both Life & Queen Of The Desert in their October 24 Update. We have heard Dane DeHaan mention the start date for Life being February 2014 on more than one occasion so whether things will actually play out like this, we’ll just have to wait & see.  Soooo excited for these films, keeping everything tightly crossed.

A true story about the friendship between James Dean (DeHaan) and Life Magazine photographer Dennis Stock (Pattinson). Stock was a young
photographer working for the Magnum agency when he received an assignment that changed his life: to shoot a free-spirited actor named James
Dean. The gig became a personal journey for both as they traveled from L.A. to New York to Indiana. It led Stock to capture iconic images before
Dean’s launch to stardom with East of Eden (1955).

Only a small mention but anything about Life, I know we LOVE to hear. Good to hear Dane mention the February 2014 date again – fingers crossed that stays on schedule. The Life talk begins around the 12.54 mark. Dane seems really lovely, looking forward to seeing Rob & him together.
