I’ve seen murmurs of release dates for this film and it looks like 25 September 2015 is one that keeps popping up for the UK (that’s the date in IMDbPro).  LittleWhiteLies has included “Life” in Part 1 of its 50 Movies you need to see in 2015:

“LIFE

Directed by Anton Corbijn

Released 25 September, 2015

We still shiver when recollecting the luscious monochrome of Corbijn’s Ian Curtis pic, Control. Interim efforts may not have packed so intense a punch but the legacy of his debut lives on. The Dutch photographer created the effect of characters moving through a world so textured that it seemed to have its own pulse. For Life — the story of a photographer and his relationship with James Dean, Dane DeHaan plays the original rebel without a cause opposite reformed heartthrob, Robert Pattinson. Let’s see what he makes of them.”

If you’re wondering about “Control”, that’s Corbijn’s film on the lead singer of Joy Division who committed suicide at the age of 23.  Corbijn photographed the band a lot.

For others wondering about release dates on Pro – US just states 2015 and Sweden has 20 November 2015.

You should also check out the other films that are coming your way in 2015 (not Rob) by clicking on the link above.

For those wondering who Charlotte is – she is the cinematographer for the film.

Ciakmag clearly saw some footage of Life from Bim Distribution yesterday during the Giornate Professionali di Cinema in Sorrento because they tweeted this shot

There’s another mention of September.  As I said before the 60th anniversary of James Dean’s death is 30 September 1955.  I would not be surprised if they released it to coincide around then.

Thanks @Sallyvg for the heads up.

Here we are again … except this week we had one of those Rob surprises that I, and I’m sure all of you, just love.  Rob playing guitar on a Death Grips’ track from 2013.  Oh yeah baby – nice surprise Rob.  I mean do we really need to relive anything else this week?  Oh I spent hours researching who the hell Rob’s character may be on The Childhood of A Leader and well I really think Rob’s character might be fictitious.  It’s a quandry since Brady seems to want to play us lol.  Not that I blame him because I”ve decided that I much prefer going into Rob films without spoilers (taking a leaf out of Carmel’s book who I watched Maps with and loved her reactions).  Oh wait there was something else to twirl about – Cassian Elwes tweet about Queen of the Desert.  Bring on 2015.   Also Anton Corbijn talked about post production on LIFE and I saw the German distributors were hinting that the movie may be released to coincide with the 60th anniversary of James Dean’s death.  That’s a nice touch but I don’t know if I want to wait until 30 September!  Jules surprised us with her new technique on her edits – am loving the darkness and light.  I really think you should continue experimenting Jules especially if that’s your first attempt *fansself*.  We had a little fun with our A-Z and Michelle spoilt us with her black and white montage.  Nice little way to end November.  Now Rob what surprises do you have for us in December?   Bring it on Rob bring it on …

Don’t forget if you miss any of the weeks they’re all listed in our Master Posts tab under RPAU Week in Review.

*NEW* Robert Pattinson Photo from LIFE & Anton Corbijn talks about Post-Production

November 29th, 2014 / 3 Comments

From Hamburg Film Fund SchlesigHolstein:

“For his latest project Anton Corbijn has returned to the Hanseatic city. Post Republic is currently preparing the color grading for the Australian-Canadian-German co-production of Life.

“It’s wonderful to be here again,” says Anton Corbijn. Dutch director and photographer who shot A Most Wanted Man in Hamburg and was enthusiastic about the locations and the special atmosphere in the Hanseatic city. His latest film Life tells the story of Hollywood photographer Dennis Stock, who meets an unknown James Dean in 1955 at a party.  After that special meeting a wonderful friendship begins that leads to the world-famous portraits of a Hollywood icon.

Anton Corbijn who became famous as a photographer mainly by his portraits of musicians said the topic was very appealing to him.  Corbijn has also worked on films with artists and personalities – his first film [Control] was on the life of Ian Curtis, the lead singer of the band Joy Division.

The German producer of Life is Wolfgang Müller (Barry Films) and it is expected to be released in German cinemas in 2015 to mark the 60th anniversary of the death of James Dean. The main roles are played by Dane Dehaan and Robert Pattinson.  The Hamburg Film Fund SchlesigHolstein has supported the film with €250,000 in production.”

I would love for Rob to be back at Cannes next year.  You might recall we posted The Playlist’s predictions on what they hoped to see during the Fall Festival earlier this year.  Now it’s included in their 15 Films that Failed to Hit the 2014 Fall Film Festival Circuit:

“Life”

What Is It? After delving into the world of espionage for “The American” and “A Most Wanted Man,” photographer-turned-filmmaker Anton Corbijn returns to a subject closer to his heart, the one in which he made his name. “Life” centers on magazine photographer Dennis Stock and his friendship with movie star James Dean, and Corbijn’s attracted two of the hottest young leading men around, with Robert Pattinson as Stock, and Dane DeHaan as Dean (Ben Kingsley and Joel Edgerton are also among the cast, with Kingsley playing studio boss Jack Warner). Little is known about the project beyond that at this point, but we’re excited nevertheless.

What Happened? Simply, it wasn’t ready. Corbijn’s “A Most Wanted Man” premiered at Sundance and was released this summer, and the director had to interrupt his post-production schedule on “Life” (which filmed back in February) to do the promotion rounds on that. As such, Corbijn told us that the film wouldn’t be locked until the end of October, making it too late for the festival circuit this time around, although he’d initially hoped to premiere at TIFF.

When Will We See It? Assuming that it sticks to that October completion date, Sundance seems to be a good bet, before possibly heading to Berlin afterwards. But it could end up being held until Cannes we suppose, although Corbijn would be first-timer there.”

Speculation of course, but I imagine it would be at least be at one of these festivals.  *Fingers&toescrossed*
