I have been waiting for the Production Notes to be unleashed.  Lots of information here, more information on the film and some lovely words about and from Rob which I’ve bolded for ease, but you really should read the entire notes. Not long to go now until some of us see this film, but I hope social media remains spoiler free because I will cut a bitch if they spoil any scenes for me before I get to see the film for myself.
“LIFE PRODUCTION NOTES
Anton Corbijn (A Most Wanted Man, The American, Control) presents LIFE, produced by See-Saw Films First Generation Films and Barry Films. From a script by Luke Davies (Candy) the film stars Robert Pattinson (Queen of the Desert, Maps to the Stars, The Rover, The Twilight Saga), Dane DeHaan (Kill Your Darlings, The Place Beyond The Pines), Joel Edgerton (The Great Gatsby, Warrior), Alessandra Mastronardi (To Rome with Love, Romeo and Juliet) and Ben Kingsley (Selfless, Iron Man 3, Hugo).
Inspired by the true story of a friendship that developed between Magnum photographer Dennis Stock (Pattinson) and actor James Dean (DeHaan) when Stock was commissioned to photograph the actor for LIFE magazine in 1955.
Stock was 26 and old before his time when into his buttoned-down world came fledgling star James Dean, a free spirit who would change popular culture from suits to jeans and from matinee idols to teenage heartthrobs. The assignment for LIFE magazine, which took the pair on a photographic journey across the US, from LA to New York and on to Indiana, would change Stock’s life and produce some of the most iconic images of the age.
Another reminder for those who might be lucky enough to attend the screenings for Queen of the Desert and Life during the 65th Berlin International Film Festival. Advance ticket sales happen from 2 February 2015. Ticket information can be found here. Click on the hyperlinks above for each film.  *NOTE:  I’m told that premiere tickets may be difficult to secure and that it’s easier to obtain tickets for other sessions.  Good luck
I just received my Screen Australia newsletter and who do I see featured in it … Rob. Twice. First there’s a snippet of Rob in The Rover in Screen Australia’s video “Australia’s World Class Talent” where Cate Blanchett, Dr. George Miller, Emile Sherman, Alex Proyas, and Joel Edgerton talk about the benefits of making stories with Australia.
Â
I love Emile Sherman’s comment that “There’s something unique about Australian talent that shines on screen”. I couldn’t agree more and for those who are thinking, why do I know that name, Emile is one of the producers for “Life”. Which is a nice little segueway into the second feature of Rob from my Screen Australia newsletter. They flipped the latest still and it definitely caught my attention.  “Life’s premiere at Berlinale was featured in their media release:
“Anton Corbijn’s Life will have its world premiere in a Berlinale Special Gala presentation at the Berlin International Film Festival next month. Life, a co-production between Australia, Germany and Canada, was written by Luke Davies (Candy, Reclaim) and produced by The King’s Speech producers Iain Canning and Emile Sherman with The Whistleblower’s producers Christina Piovesan, Benito Mueller and Wolfgang Müller. A photographic assignment for Life magazine takes Dennis Stock (Robert Pattinson) on a tour across the US following James Dean (Dane DeHaan), capturing iconic images of the star and revealing a side to the actor only a few knew.
Life is one of eight Australian films selected to screen at the internationally renowned festival next month.
CEO of Screen Australia, Graeme Mason, said, “It is fantastic news and an honour for the team behind Life to have their film debut to the world in a coveted Gala screening at Berlin. That same recognition has been extended to all eight Australian projects invited to the festival. Having three features and five shorts at this prominent festival demonstrates the strength of our stories and talent. What’s more, two of the shorts were made by students, revealing the depth of emerging talent in Australia.â€
There is also a small mention about Queen of the Desert:
“Queen of the Desert, which stars Nicole Kidman, will also screen in Competition.”
I love Friday’s even more so when we get a glimpse of the back of Rob from a new still for Life.  And I don’t miss the irony because how many times have I viewed Rob through the viewfinder on my camera. Ha!
The full programme for Berlinale has been announced and we now know the dates for the world premieres of Queen of the Desert and Life.
Both films will have a press conference and photocall. All events have a livestream and can be seen here. We will repost on each day of the screenings. Note Rob is only scheduled to appear at the Life World Premiere. At this stage it doesn’t look like he will be attending for Queen of the Desert, but we will let you know if that changes.

As I’ve mentioned previously, Transmission Films is the Australian distributor for both “Queen of the Desert” and “Life“. I have been checking their website regularly and both films had been listed as “in production” until today. Now both films have had their status changed to “Coming Soon”. I tweeted about it, but this post is for those who don’t have Twitter and I’m sure they will agree, this is definitely a change in the right direction!  And in case you missed my tweet yesterday. See Saw Films have also added the newest still to their “Life” page on their website.
