Move over Team Edward, Team Georges is coming to town hehe. Our wonderful friend & very own Lise-Lou uncovered this awesome T-shirt & we loved it so much we had to share with you all.  Cannot put into words how excited we are about Rob’s role as Georges Duroy in Bel-Ami. Seriously just cannot wait to see him in this film. For anyone who hasn’t read the book I suggest that you do, it is an amazing story (oh & Aus Post, stop withholding Georges from Vertigo or we will all be after you!!) I think I speak for everyone when I say, I want one of these shirts!!  To check it out, just click on the highlighted link above. Thanks so much Lise-Lou for sending this to us. Made us smile.

Here’s what Baz Bamigboye of the UK’s DailyMail has to say about Rob and Bel-Ami. You know I’m only posting this because I CANNOT wait for Rob to start working on this film – Rob as Georges Duroy lordy lordy I don’t want to wish 2010 away, but I can’t wait to post the release date for this one. No pressure Rob or Hopscotch Films (Aussie distributor in case you didn’t know).
“Robert Pattinson begins rehearsals next month with a line-up of leading ladies including Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Christina Ricci. [I’ve seen Christina Ricci’s name bandied around but not confirmed anywhere – ProductionWeekly has now confirmed.  Damn her first James McAvoy now Rob.]
And that’s just for starters. They will be preparing for a screen version of Guy de Maupassant’s 19th-century novel Bel Ami about a thoroughly shameless Lothario who goes through life with an open fly.
Pattinson, who saunters through those Twilight movies like a tomcat who lapped up a lot of cream, will play Georges Duroy, a Frenchman of humble beginnings who works his way up from being a minor office clerk to become a powerful editor possessing great political influence.
Each rung up the ladder represents the influence of a powerful woman. More often than not, once he has finished with them he starts on their daughters. Thurman will play Madeleine, Duroy’s first conquest.
Ricci takes on the role of Clotilde, whose husband is often away, and Scott Thomas plays Virginie, the wife of Duroy’s editor-in-chief. He likes her daughter, too. [ooh I guessed right back when she was announced on who Kristin would play]
Directors Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod are meeting three other actresses who will play women with whom Duroy also associates.
The directing duo are from the theatre and are adept at working with classic texts and making them entertaining and accessible. More importantly, they also know how to get the best work out of their cast.
The picture is being produced by Uberto Pasolini, but pop visionary Simon Fuller is executive producer in what is his first foray into big-screen films.”
Um sorry Baz, but have you seen any Twilight movies?  Rob hardly saunters through them like a tomcat, but maybe that’s just me. Thanks to our friends and elite affiliates at Spunk Ransom for the tip on both accounts. And how can I go past the Barnes Theatre Co pic of Rob – Georges Duroy minus the moustache – pls Rob can you make them just let you keep your 3 day growth – pretty please.

We have just received official confirmation direct from Hopscotch Films that they have the distribution rights for Bel-Ami in Australia. How exciting is this. It is so wonderful to hear some Bel-Ami news. I am seriously so excited for this film & just absolutely cannot wait to see Rob in the role of Georges. He is going to be brilliant. Of course no release date is set as yet but we will be bringing you any info we receive as soon as it comes to hand. Thanks to @remembermefilm for the original tip.

We’ve been spoilt today with the Remember Me trailer and I am dying to see Rob in that film, but the other film I’m more desperate to see is Bel-Ami. The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Uma Thurman has now been cast as Madeleine Forestier and that Kristin Scott Thomas has also signed on (I suspect as Mdme Rousset), but time will tell whether we will retract any of this – remember Nicole Kidman had been reported as signing on too. If you want to read the very short article, please click on the highlighted link above. Oh God this week has just been too much, and Rob it’s great that you are getting costars of this calibre and there really is 6 degrees of separation right (sorry I’m alluding to the Kristin/Ralph Fiennes link). Damn you Voldemort.

I know I tweeted about this last night thanks to a tip from our elite affiliate Spunk Ransom, but for those who don’t follow us on Twitter I thought you should know that Bel-Ami has been made public on Rob’s IMDb page although it still needs to be updated. Note to IMDb – you can’t list Nicole Kidman in the cast on the same page as an AceShowbiz.com article headed “Nicole Kidman Not Pairing Up With Robert Pattinson in ‘Bel Ami‘“. Oh well you can, but please update to no Nicole. Ah Rob from the many positives I received from you yesterday – this has to be one of the highlights. I cannot wait to see you as Georges Duroy, although 2011 makes me think I might have to. Thanks to our elite affiliate Robert Pattinson Source for the pic above – this is exactly how I felt when I heard him say he was going to start filming in February *squee*
Well it was good while it lasted – I mean thinking that Bel Ami was definitely going ahead in February – I suppose the “filming in Budapest” should have given it away considering Rob has said on a few occasions that he will be filming in Paris, but we got so carried away yesterday that we wanted it to be true. Thanks to our elite affiliate ROBsessed for the tip
“What’s NOT true is that Kidman will star opposite Pattinson. While she did consider the project, the film’s timing didn’t work out … “Bel Ami†is “categorically not happening for her.â€

I just couldn’t bring myself to delete this Barnes Theatre Co pic. I have to also say I’m a little relieved that there’s no Nicole because I personally would have preferred Julianne Moore.

Coincidence that I’m halfway through reading Guy De Maupassant’s “Bel-Ami”, probably, but as most of you know I’m a huge believer in positive thought and so on this amazing day we have this to look forward to:

Okay so I am going to have to make some big concessions because as unAustralian as this is, I swore after sitting through Cold Mountain (only Jude made me stay to the end) I would never watch another Nicole Kidman film. I have stuck to that – not even Hugh could get me to watch Australia – sorry Hugh. Uggh Rob how could you do this to me, but in the words of Eddie – “I guess I’ll just have to endure it”.
Thanks to the gorgeous brandnewluv from our amazing affiliates pattinsonlife for the tip of the above and also the additional info from lion_lamb.
“Pattinson, Kidman board Bel Ami for Protagonist.”
4 November, 2009 | By Geoffrey Macnab
In an intriguing star pairing, Twilight sensation Robert Pattinson is teaming with Nicole Kidman to star in Bel Ami, the film of Guy De Maupassant’s erotically charged story of ambition, power and seduction. Multi-award winning UK theatre directors Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod are directing from a screenplay by Rachel Bennette.
London-based Protagonist has taken on international sales to the film.
Uberto Pasolini (The Full Monty) will produce, with Simon Fuller of 19 Entertainment acting as executive producer. The film will shoot in London and Budapest from February 2010.
Donnellan and Ormerod, whose Cheek By Jowl is widely regarded as one of the most influential theatre companies in the world, will make their feature debut with this story about a young man’s rise to the top of Parisian high society in the 1890s, via the beds of the city’s most glamorous and influential women.
In a world where politics and media jostle for influence, where sex is power and celebrity an obsession, the film has, say the producers, a contemporary relevance which should resonate with audiences worldwide.
Bel Ami is a Redwave Films production in association with 19 Entertainment, Protagonist Pictures and RaiCinema. RAI has Italian rights. All other territories will be sold by Protagonist, which has already commenced pre-sales on the film.”
