New Still/Screenshot of Robert Pattinson #Tenet

This could be a screen capture from the latest trailer, but I thought I would share as it’s been uploaded to IMDbPro and it’s Rob after all. It’s also a slow news day.

From Esquire’s article “The Untold Story of John David Washington” we not only have a new still, but also this little snippet from Rob on meeting with JDW:

Washington stars opposite Robert Pattinson, and the success of the film rides on the chemistry between the two, Nolan says. The actors met shortly before filming, when Pattinson invited his new castmates to his thirty-third-birthday party in L. A.

“He turned up late, and by that point I was very much in a convivial spirit, and then it was him and Aaron Taylor-Johnson turned up, and I think I was just screaming and shouting at them for like an hour, and I suddenly regretted everything I said afterward, and so I thought maybe we’re off to a really bad start, but he was very sweet about it,” Pattinson says. “He’s so positive and not positive in a really annoying way, like he’s definitely . . .  you can definitely push him a little bit to be naughty. He doesn’t mind when other people are naughty.”

It’s an incredibly complicated movie, like all of Chris’s movies. I mean, you have to watch them when they’re completely finished and edited three or four times to understand what the true meaning is,” Pattinson says. He pauses for a moment, then continues with a self-deprecating laugh. “When you’re doing them, I mean, there were months at a time where I’m like, ‘Am I . . . I actually, honestly, have no idea if I’m even vaguely understanding what’s happening.’ And yeah, I would definitely say that to John David. On the last day, I asked him a question about what was happening in a scene, and it was just so profoundly the wrong take on the character. And it was like, ‘Have you been thinking this the entire time?’ . . . There’s definitely a bond in the end in kind of hiding the fact that maybe neither one of us knew exactly what was going on. But then I thought, Ah, but John David actually did know. He had to know what was going on.”

Thanks @Monsieur_HJ for heads up.

Screen Daily and Deadline both reported that Samuel Goldwyn Films have bought the North American rights for Waiting for the Barbarians and will release on digital platforms on 7 August 2020. From the press release :

WAITING FOR THE BARBARIANS is filled with powerful and moving performances from Mark, Johnny, Robert, and Gana. The cinematography is beautiful and director Ciro Guerra creates a world that forces us to look deeper into ourselves and ask, “What would I do?”. Samuel Goldwyn Films is proud to bring this film to audiences,” says Peter Goldwyn of Samuel Goldwyn Films.

ON THIS DAY : 11 years ago Rob came to Australia for the first time to attend the premiere of Water for Elephants in Sydney. It was the longest red carpet held stretching from the commencement of Pitt Street Mall at King Street all the way to the entrance of The State Theatre on Market Street. It was the first red carpet that RPAU had been invited to and what a a spectacular evening – we will never forget the moment Rob stepped out of the car and was standing in front of us in the flesh. Below is our 2015 post reminiscing about this wonderful night.

Plus to celebrate our 4 year anniversary of the Water For Elephants Sydney premiere – here’s a short snippet of Rob arriving inside the theatre on that night.  I still can’t forget what it was like to finally see Rob in the flesh

Beautiful Jacob Jankowski, how I adore him. These 4 stills we have seen, but not in this, to quote Vertigo ‘big clicky action’ 🙂

Robert Pattinson as Eric Michael Packer in #Cosmopolis

image host

UPDATED: 6 April 2020

Bringing this forward as we’re celebrating Rob’s performance in Cosmopolis as our Movie Monday on Twitter and Instagram today. I posted this back in August 2018 – so it’s actually almost 8 years since we were blessed with this great performance.

It’s hard to believe that Cosmopolis came out 6 years ago, but I’m glad it did and it can certainly be considered the precursor for so many brilliant performances from Rob since that time.  It should be no surprise then that I thought we should kickstart the week by celebrating Rob’s performance in this film.  Thank you Mr Cronenberg for believing in Rob and helping to unlock the potential we all knew was there.  Say hello to Eric Michael Packer …
