Robert Pattinson Nominated for Best Supporting Actor | Saturn Awards
UPDATE: 30 September 2021
Deadline has provided us with the date for the ceremony:
The 46th Annual Saturn Awardswill take place at the L.A. Marriott Burbank Hotel on October 26, … This year’s show will be dedicated to the memory of Oscar-nominated actor Robert Forster (Jackie Brown, The Black Hole, Breaking Bad), along with all of the talented individuals who have lost their lives over the past year and a half.
You may recall that Robert Forster appeared as the Old Preacher in Damsel. More surprises are to be announced in the coming weeks – hope one of the surprises is Robs’ attendance. As usual, will update if more information comes to light about that.
5 March 2021: The 46th annual Saturn Awards unveiled nominations by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, the nonprofit that honors the year’s best in genre films, TV, home entertainment and theater and according to Deadline, Tenet received 9 nominations, one of which is for Rob for Best Supporting Actor. The other nominations are:
Best Science Fiction release
Best Actor (John David Washington)
Best Film Director (Christopher Nolan)
Best Screenplay (Christopher Nolan)
Best Film Editing (Jennifer Lame)
Best Film Production Design (Nathan Crowley)
Best Film Composer (Ludwig Goransson)
Best Film Visual/Special Effects (Andrew Jackson, Andrew Lockley, Scott Fisher, Mike Chambers)
Organisers are planning an awards ceremony later this year. I will update as soon as I know when.
Rob has been included in the 395 artists and executives invited to become a member of the Academy. It was the smallest invite list in years (considering 819 were invited in 2020) since the #OscarsSoWhite uproar. According to The Hollywood Reporter:
“The 2021 class is 46 percent women, 39 percent underrepresented ethnic/racial communities, and 53 percent international from 49 countries outside of the United States.”
If Rob accepts (which I’d be surprised if he didn’t) it means that he will be one of the people voting for the Oscars. Perhaps now they will consider his future roles for nominations. I do love that they refer to Tenet and The Lighthouse – probably too embarrassed to shine a spotlight on Good Time. According to Deadline:
Tenet Receives Nominations for various 2020 Awards
UPDATED: 26 APRIL 2021
Unsurprisingly Tenet won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects and rightly so. That plane crash was spectacular! Congratulations to Scott R. Fisher, Andrew Jackson, David Lee, Andrew Lockley.
The International Film Society Critics have released their nominations for the inaugural IFSCA Awards. Rob is nominated for the 2020 Body of Work(Legacy) Award which is awarded to the person who put forth quality work in the year 2020 that has left an impact on film. (Just give Rob the award already).
AWARDS SEASON: Warner Bros Releases Robert Pattinson #Tenet Script in lead up to Awards
The Film Stage (via No Film School) shared the script for Tenet. Don’t worry it’s legal, it’s all part of the perks of films being in contention during the awards race towards the Oscars. The studios release them themselves. If you are interested in reading it is available for download on Google Drive HERE.
