Michelle what can I say – I’ve said it every year since we first met in early 2009. I am so happy to call you my friend. You are one of the sweetest people I know and are a good cop to my bad one. I know there is no way we can compete with Rob’s personal appearance for your birthday last year, but hey – we can bring you a little Rob. I hope you have an awesome day, lots of fun, celebrations and *cough* Rob. I may have a little birthday tribute for you … which I’ll post next.  But for now “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” and here’s one of my fave pics that I took of Rob with Dean last year (some of you may recognise it as our old Twitter background). They are so close you can almost touch them *grins*.

As some of you know The Screen Producer’s Association of Australia is conducting a seminar in Melbourne between 18 and 21 November 2013. Â Although this is an industry event, it is open to anyone. Â Of interest to most of us will be the following Masterclass held between 10.30 am and 11.15 am on Wednesday 20 November 2013:
“The Trans-Pacifici Partnership: Â A Case Study on Financing “The Rover”
The Rover is a rare film – co-produced by a top flight Australian and top-flight US producer with significant foreign money; all built on the promise of David Michod making his second film, and a very strong cast. How did it all come together?
The key players in the financing of The Rover will tell the story of how their involvement started, how the finance plan was created, and what made it such a great deal for everyone.
The session will explore the inception and development of the project, but focus on the deal-making process, what each party brought to the table and what they took away from the project.
The Rover provides a model for cross-Pacific partnerships and how Australian talent can work with American know-how.
Speakers:
Liz Watts, Producer, Porchlight Films Â
Zachary Studin, Vice President of Production, Lava Bear Films
Bec Smith, Agent, UTA Independent Film Group and Motion Picture Literary Department
John Zois, Director, Acquisitions & Production, FilmNation Entertainment
Moderator & Session Producer
Alex Sangston, Senior Manager, Producer Offset and Co-production, Screen Australia”
If you are considering attending, you can click here for registration details.
For those who won’t be attending (like me), you will be happy to know that the SPAA has advised me that it is proposing to film this event and upload to their website a week or two later. Â Of course, we will let you know as soon as it is available. Â Thought you would all be happy to hear that. Â I know I was.
As we know Rob visited a children’s hospital last week & now the hospital, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles have shared some beautiful pics of Rob’s visit & also a special message from Rob to patients & families. How beautiful are these photos, as Maria said last weekend, it is a great day to be a fan of this man. Â Beautiful man with a heart of gold he is. Â Those gorgeous children would have been so unbelievably excited, makes me so so happy to see them smile – such a beautiful thing.
