The Stars at Noon (via Screen Daily Cannes Bumper edition) is being presented by Wildbunch at Cannes Market 2021. Rob’s name seems to have been inadvertently omitted from the cast, but I’m not worried because Claire did say she would wait for Rob. Barnstormer Productions is also not mentioned, so this copywriter might be going off old information.
I will post any updates concerning the Cannes screenings on this post.
Ever since Brady Corbet mentioned in 2016 that Rob was involved with Mona Fastvold’s next movie “The Bleaching Yard”, very little information was forthcoming. Now thanks to Variety we know why:
For a long time Fastvold worked on a project based on the Norwegian novel “The Bleaching Yard,†which, despite having various cast attached to it, kept falling apart, which she attributes to financing.
…
After financing on “The Bleaching Yard†project fell through for the third time, Jim Shepard and Ron Hansen’s script for “The World to Come†(based on Shepard’s short story) was directed her way by Whitaker Lader – a producer at Sea Change Media, which she co-owns with Casey Affleck (who also stars in the film with Christopher Abbott).
Hopefully this may be a passion project that Rob will pitch to Warners/HBO Max. Meanwhile, Mona and Brady are working on their next collaboration “The Brutalist” which may start filming this year and stars Joel Edgerton, Marion Cottilard and Mark Rylance. One wonders if Rob might have a cameo in that film.
IMDbPro updated Robert Pattinson “The Stars at Noon” by adding Olivier Gauriat as Producer and his production company Barnstormer. Whether he is replacing Rodrigo Teixiera is unclear since Rodrigo’s name is no longer shown as a producer, but RT Features still appears as a production company. In any event, I’m just happy to see some movement on this film. Filming dates are still unclear, but we do know that it is slated to film this year for release in 2022. Remember Claire was happy to wait for Rob to be ready.
IMDbPro Adds Casting Director to Robert Pattinson “The Stars at Noon”
Maybe with the wrap of The Batman, Claire Denis really will start filming The Stars at Noon with Rob some time next month. IMDbPro has added a casting director to the film. We will update as soon as more information becomes available.
Updated: Looks like it won’t be April, but then who knows with this industry. From Screen Daily today:
For now, Denis is editing her love triangle drama Fire, co-starring two of her long-time collaborators Vincent Lindon and Juliette Binoche, and hopes to start shooting her long-gestating Nicaragua-set romantic drama The Stars At Noon, starring Robert Pattinson and Margaret Qualley, this autumn.
