Movie Monday Spotlight on Robert Pattinson in Good Time as Connie Nikas
Â
Back in July 2015, a little known project called Good Time was announced by the Safdie Bros that would feature Robert Pattinson as the lead. All we knew was that it was a bank robbery caper. Information about the film was kept under wraps, filming even more so. And weren’t we treated to one of the most amazing performances Rob has ever given.  Rob talked about filming under the radar:
“If someone sees two grown adults having a strange interaction with each other, people avoid it,†Pattinson says. The paparazzi and his rabid fans (known as “Twihardsâ€) also were MIA: “There wasn’t a single cellphone picture of me the whole time. I was so concerned about that happening, because I loved [the idea] of the film world being blurred with reality and having people on the street react to you.â€Â Associated Press
No doubt Rob was thrilled with the result. When Good Time premiered in competition at Cannes in 2017 it received a 6 minute standing ovation and although it didn’t win the Palme D’Or or Rob best actor, the accolades kept on coming.  Here’s a few just to remind us:
It features a strong performance from the criminally underrated Robert Pattinson, Collider
[Pattinson] once again demonstrating his capacity and range in a commanding, robust performance, The Hollywood News
Pattinson delivers a manic, adrenalized performance in the vein of Robert DeNiro in “Mean Streets, a film to which “Good Time†often pays homage.” The Wrap
I’ve never appreciated Pattinson as an actor, not even for his acclaimed roles in THE LOST CITY OF Z or COSMOPOLIS. But he’s on fire here with what’s easily a career-best performance. Awards Daily

I think we can all agree that it’s going exceptionally well. Found the photo on the left when I was searching through a box of old USBs of Rob photos. Amazing how many pics you can accumulate in over 12 years.
Happy New Year from Robert Pattinson Australia
Well what a year it has been. I won’t dwell on the virus, we’ve all been affected in some way, but I will focus on the positives – Rob the photographer, Rob in Dior, Rob in The Lighthouse, The Devil All the Time, Waiting for the Barbarians and Tenet. Four Rob films in one year is a definite positive. Not to mention the glimpse of Rob as Batman/Bruce Wayne. Now that little teaser was most definitely a highlight of 2020. And what can we say about those self portraits *chefskiss*
Thank you all for supporting RPAU celebrating Rob’s career whether you follow us via this fansite, Twitter or Instagram. We obviously cannot predict what will be happening next year, other than Rob will finish filming The Batman some time in February 2021 and hopefully we will have confirmation of filming for The Stars at Noon. We can’t wait to see what new surprises Rob has for us in the following years and share them with you all. Onwards and upwards.
Hope you all have a fun, safe and healthy start to 2021 and no doubt like most of us we’re sure you’re all glad to see the back of 2020.
