Zoe Kravitz talked Robert Pattinson and The Batman
Zoe Kravitz talked Rob whilst out promoting High Fidelity. This is what she told Variety:
How do you feel about Robert Pattinson as Batman? What has it been like working with him so far?Â
I’ve never worked with him before, but we’ve been together for the last few weeks, I had to camera test with him and now we’ve been training together and rehearsing together and he’s just a delightful person and such a wonderful, thoughtful actor. I think he’s perfect for the role and it’s going to be such an adventure. I’m excited to have him as my partner in crime and to be there to support each other, because it’s intense. It’s going to be a long shoot and there’s a lot of pressure, and I know he has my back and I have his.
Zoe also was on Jimmy Fallon – she said she’s not legally aloud to talk about The Batman but “Everyone is so excited about this story … everyone’s so invested it’s a really good energy on set”. Video below starts on The Batman talk (1.31)
Willem Dafoe thanks Robert Pattinson in his acceptance speech
Rob lost to Adam Sander (I’m still bitter about that), but I loved how Willem Dafoe recognised his co-star and said “Lastly, it takes two to tango. He’s not here, but I share this with Rob Pattinson and remember it’s bad luck to kill a sea bird.” I thought it was extremely gracious of Willem.
Willem also shut down the questions directed to him backstage post win about Rob and The Batman (at about 1.48 and then again at 3.40) . It was fairly poor behaviour by these journos to try and get some exclusive when they should be focusing on his win and The Lighthouse. Congrats Willem you so deserved this award and recognition for an amazing performance.
She took the time to share with Fashionista how her love of vintage clothing helped start her Hollywood career, what she learned from Hemming and why costume designing “Little Women” and “The Batman” (or even Sam Mendes’s “1917”) are actually quite similar.
…
‘The Batman’ is your first foray into superhero costume design, which is its own beast — vocal superfans, comic book inspirations, concept artists and all that. What has been the learning curve or surprising aspects of this current project?
Because Batman is a man, it’s not fully in the [superhero] universe. But it is a new adventure for me and it’s very interesting because it’s something I’ve not done before. The absolute thing about it, yet again, [is] the director. I’m trying to make the film that director Matt Reeves wants to make. The other things — the previous films, the comics and everything else — are relevant to a degree that they’re relevant to a Matt Reeves movie. So, again, that’s how important the director is, because you’re concentrating on their vision.Â
Robert Pattinson talks Dior, Tenet and Batman with GQ Italia
I feel like bits of this interview are quotes from other interviews we have seen and read recently. Especially the comment “When you’re a tall Englishman, everyone ends up imagining you perfect in nineteenth-century costume dramas”. Some of it seems awfully familiar. The photos however are new! Below is an extract, but head over to GQItalia to read the full article:
Since 2013 Pattinson has also been the face of Dior Homme . The new campaign will be released in the spring, complete with a promotional film directed by the French duo The Blaze. “I’m glad the dance scene is shown in slow motion,” he admits. “At normal speed it would be much more ridiculous. I’m certainly not the type who goes to the disco alone and starts dancing. “ The video recalls the atmospheres of his favorite films and in which Pattinson plays a model of modern man, far from machist stereotypes, vulnerable and fragile. And the theme offers a starting point for reasoning.
Being a man is a progression. “I think in 2020 he finds himself straddling traditional elements – in which the male is quite strong and determined and does whatever he wants – and a deep sensuality. I believe that being a man today means being more things together, including aggression and vulnerability. And also the freedom to take an interest in fabrics and perfumes, why not.”
Of his style he says that in the last six years he has changed a lot, because he has lost his shyness and today he dares much more. “Now I feel I am a bit more avant-garde. Working with Dior makes you feel protected, because being associated with a timeless brand gives you security. When you then have the opportunity to make the fitting with the designer in person, you feel much more aware of what you are choosing to wear. So yes, in general I feel I have become a little more experimental over the years. I love everything that Kim Jones draws, even if alone I might never have chosen the tuxedo with basketball shorts (look he wore at the 2018 New York Film Festival, ed.). Satin, chiffon… I love these fabrics, even though I have a tendency to always wear a little the same things in everyday life”.
Michael Giacchino says that Robert Pattinson is “an incredible actor … who can do pretty much anything”
Hey U Guys spoke to The Batman composer Michael Giacchino on the BAFTA red carpet yesterday and this is what he had to say about Matt Reeves and The Batman (starts at around 2.24) and why Matt wanted Rob (starts around 3.37) and yes he’s seen Rob’s Batsuit:
I think from day one [Matt] that he was … he’s an amazing actor. He’s an incredible actor. And in this business, you get pigeon holed for certain things. If you do one thing and it goes off well, then that’s the only thing you’re going to be known for. So for someone like him, it’s really not a fair assessment. He’s an amazing actor who can do pretty much anything. And that’s what I’m excited about. To see him in this role, doing something different.”Â
Rob was out bowling on Friday night hanging out with Margot Robbie and Jurnee Bell – Batman meets Harley Quinn and Black Canary. Rob leads a charmed life that’s for sure.
