You will recall last week we posted that the pre-production date on IMDbPro had changed to 28 June 2015.  The latest Production Weekly has provided the following information via
“Production Weekly (Issue 954 preview, July 16th) shows an August 17th start of production, filming in the UK & Colombia”
Remember earlier this year I posted what we knew so far and had this little bit of trivia about filming in Colombia:
“I checked out filming in Colombia and found this interesting little tidbit from a previous shoot from The Location Guide: “Protected indigenous communities live in the Sierra Nevada. The production wanted to do aerial shots with helicopters over the protected area for several days and needed to land in Ciudad Perdida (Lost City). It was a big challenge to obtain the permits from both National Parks and the Institute of Anthropology and History. In the end they understood it was a great opportunity to show our culture and natural beauty abroad and agreed on a schedule.â€Â It’s probably just coincidence but it could be where they are thinking of filming in Colombia. Time will, of course, tell. At this stage I’m just speculating.”
Â
It’s not much but it’s something.  Indiewire posted a podcast with James Gray.  I admit I haven’t listened to it yet so I don’t know if he mentions Lost City during it, but for now:
“…Â writer/director James Gray is hard at work getting “The Lost City Of Z” ready to shoot later this year.”
I’ll update if more info comes to light.
All I know that things must be moving if the date was updated from 20 December 2014 to 28 June 2015.  Normally when nothing happens they update with “status unknown”.  Last we heard James Gray was hoping to start principal photography on 8 August.  Anyway I know we love seeing things moving ahead and in typical fashion Screen Daily mentioned LCoZ on 15 June 2015 and of course omitted Rob’s name:
“James Gray’s The Lost City Of Z starring Charlie Hunnam, which is scheduled to begin shooting in August.”
Here’s a screenshot from IMDbPro which still lists
Â
I know we don’t need confirmation that Brimstone is set to commence filming on 15 June 2015, but I just liked that SSNInsider focussed on Rob when including Brimstone in it’s On the Set article for this week.  It’s nice to see Rob’s hard work appreciated:
Â
From ScreenDailies:
Â
I see a mention of Lost City of Z too. I’m ignoring that Rob isn’t mentioned in the line up for The Trap.
The article can also be seen online at Screen Daily.
Update (18/5/2015): Â For those nervous that Rob’s name was omitted from the article above:
Â
So Rob may not be attending Cannes, as far as we know, but some of his films are being marketed there this year. As I mentioned the other day, The Childhood of a Leader has “Promo Screening Pending” as it’s Cannes status on Cinando. What this means is that they are proposing to screen a promotional reel (not entire film obviously) to buyers at the market. I’m guessing since it still says “pending” they are working hard to finish whatever it is they want to show. I’ll keep you posted if and when it changes. Nothing is listed under the “Markets” tab of Protagonist yet, although they have a Cannes office listed on their Cinando page
Â
Update:Â 23/04/2015
Remember I said above that Protagonist still didn’t have anything listed under “Markets” tab for Cannes. Well that’s changed now. I hope we get news of distributors signing up. Look at that “Protagonist Promo Reel – Exclusive Footage”.
