Thought I would wait until this morning to put this together.  The video has since been removed, but if you missed it you can catch our gifs and screenshots here and here. Let’s see what those who had the chance to view it (or not) say shall we:
The Playlist: “Described as an action-adventure, in Gray’s hand this new sales trailer is somewhat reminiscent of “Apocalypse Now,†and given the filmmaker is an avowed Francis Ford Coppola fan, you’ll probably see more of that influence in the movie itself (as well as that of David Lean, whom Gray said was an major inspiration on the film) via the cinematography of the great Darius Khondji (who shot “The Immigrantâ€).  … Recent reports said “The Lost City Of Z†would not be ready until the fall, so it could turn up at the Venice International Film Festival instead. There’s obviously no release date or distributor yet; a festival bow will have to come first. But with the package of Gray, this cast, and Pitt’s Plan B, securing a distributor shouldn’t be difficult.”
The Film Stage: “For our first glimpse at the film, an epic three-minute sales trailer has arrived, which shows off the story and Darius Khondji‘s ravishing cinematography.”
Filmosphere (French): “After 7 years of development, the first images of the adaptation of The Lost City of Z by James Gray finally visible in a trailer visibly thinking for future buyers. And not surprisingly, it’s beautiful.

OH EM GEE
*Update* The trailer was quickly removed.  If you want to view you can search YouTube but copies are being removed just as swiftly.
We already knew this about Studio Canal, but I love getting additional confirmation. We have had it listed on our film page since about 2014 and Studio Canal Australia confirmed it to us back when Benedict Cumberbatch was still attached. In any event, it’s great news that Variety has confirmed it this morning:
‘Pan-European major Studiocanal has acquired James Gray’s anticipated “Lost City of Z,†starring Charlie Hunnam, Robert Pattinson, Sienna Miller and Tom Holland, in multiple territories.
Studiocanal will distribute the action-adventure film in France, the U.K., Germany and Australia/New Zealand.
Sold by Sierra/Affinity, “Lost City of Z†is produced by Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner via Plan B Entertainment along with Anthony Katagas and Dale Johnson.
…
The ambitious pic marks Gray’s follow-up to “The Immigrant,†his 2013 period drama with Marion Cotillard that world premiered in competition at Cannes. “Lost City of Z,†however, is not expected to play in Cannes since it’s still in early post and will not be completed in time for the festival.”
“Not expected” doesn’t mean won’t re Cannes.  I remember having a conversation with a certain director a few years back where he wasn’t saying anything about Cannes so as not to jinx!
Variety also confirms the US distributor is Paramount, but we knew that already too. Â But it is worth repeating. 2016 is going to be an exciting year for Rob.
Updated: 18 March 2016
Variety have removed the Paramount reference from their article. Â I’ve contacted Paramount to see if they can confirm they are not attached to distribute. Â Will update on our film page if they respond.
I would love to see the promo Sierra Affinity showed at EFM j/s “Lost City of Z†shot in Belfast, Northern Ireland and in Colombia. Sierra/Affinity unveiled a promo at the EFM.”
I know, the film hasn’t even been completed yet, but according to Guia da Semana, Brazil will release the film on 27 October 2016. Â This could just be a placecard, but at least they are thinking about it. Â We already know that Brazil has a distributor:
Adoro Cinema has also had 27 October listed for some time, although they could be feeding off each other.  Time will tell I guess and we will of course keep you updated.
