Robert Pattinson talks to Elle Korea

imgbox

Elle Korea recently interviewed Rob and gave us these great photos from the Dior photoshoot. I’ve posted an extract below using Google translate, but you can read the full interview by clicking on link above:

Do you know you’re a millennial? Rather, it feels like I’m the last-train from the previous generation . I don’t agree with anything like social media that millennials care about. It’s rather annoying. I’m not sure why I should take a selfie and post it on social media. I certainly don’t think it’s my style.

Robert Pattinson talks to Elle France

imgbox

It’s a good thing to wake up to a new interview and photoshoot – thanks to Elle France. Here’s a very rough translation thanks to Google:

Between autuer films and blockbusters, the actor is also the face of the new eau de toilette Dior Homme. If the next Batman seems to slip into his roles as if to disappear, he imposes more than ever his captivating presence.

He is only 33 years old and gives the impression of having already lived a thousand lives. As if Robert Pattinson was boiling a flow of energy which encouraged him to constantly reinvent himself. Model at 16 years old, musician and professional actor at 18 years old, he occupies our fantasy space, we have to make a reason. Dare to say: “I’m going to interview Robert Pattinson”, your colleagues and conscience give you looks of envy, even jealousy, your friends do not believe you and think that you are overwhelmed, because the idea of hearing his voice is sacred. Mysterious, the English actor can boast of already having 34 films to his credit. He was able to conquer an immense renown with “Twilight” before moving towards a cinema qualified as avant-garde or even experimental with directors like Claire Denis, David Michod, David Cronenberg or Robert Eggers. Without ever losing this aura and an audience that sells it like an idol.

Robert Pattinson talks Dior and The Lighthouse with AnOther Mag

image host

AnOther Mag sat down and spoke with Rob prior to Dior’s Autumn/Winter 2020 menswear show, staged at Place de la Concorde. Here is what he had to say about Dior:

“Weirdly, the only scent [in this fragrance] I knew was bergamot,” he says. “I sniffed it and was like ‘bergamot’ and Francois Demachy, Dior’s perfumer, was like ‘yes!’ Bergamot is one of my favourite scents.”

Dressed casually in a T-shirt and jeans, Pattinson is here to talk about Dior Homme’s new fragrance, of which he is the face. As well as bergamot, this “intensely woody” eau de toilette features Atlas cedar, Haitian vetiver and patchouli heart, in addition to notes of musk – a combination of scents that results in a “virile signature”, according to the house.”

“There’s a timelessness to Dior, it feels like it’s going to be around forever, it’s a sort of monument,” Pattinson says. “I don’t know exactly how to define it, especially the difference even in the two designers when I’ve been here. To see the differences with Kim [Jones], it’s wildly different from Kris [Van Assche’s] collections, but they still look very much Dior, it’s interesting.”

Robert Pattinson talks to GQ UK

Robert Pattinson talks to GQ UK about his style regrets, the paparazzi and Dior Homme:

Robert Pattinson has come a long way since his Harry Potter and Twilight days. The British actor has just starred in the Oscar-nominated, Robert Eggers-directed film The Lighthouse and he’s recently been unveiled as the next Batman and is the lead in Christopher Nolan’s forthcoming Tenet. But Pattinson also has another key role keeping him busy and that’s being the face of Dior Homme’s current fragrance campaign.

Pattinson has worked with Dior for an impressie eight years, since 2012. “I never thought we would be doing it for this long,” The actor told us. But with his chiselled good looks, that fine-tuned personal style and, of course, those intimidating acting chops, we’re less surprised than Pattinson.

Being in a fragrance campaign has big perks for an actor. “No one was really working with brands on such a big level when I was approached. That said, it’s been incredible and I’ve worked with directors that I wanted to do movies with anyway. I’ve been able to work with Jonathan Alric and Romain Gavras.”

It’s not just the auteurs he’s been able to collaborate with that have been game changing for Pattinson. “If I was choosing to wear clothes myself, I don’t think I would have gone in a lot the directions that I have ended up going in with Dior and people like Kim Jones,” Pattinson said. “I never would have thought I would be wearing chiffon, silk and satin. I wore this tuxedo, which had basketball shorts last year – never would have imagined that!”

Though the days of dodgy outfits and ill-fitting cuts are behind him, Pattinson still cringes at the thought of his past style turns. One that stands out in particular is his look from the 2005 premiere of Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire. “I was wearing leather trousers with these cowboy boots and a velvet jacket. I mean, it literally looked like a kid had gone into a dressing-up box.”

He’s not tracked by the paparazzi as much in recent years as he was in his Twilight heyday – “I have so many terror memories of the paparazzi… and I still don full-on protective armour, hood up, hat down” – but he still thinks very carefully about what he wears, including, he says, the kind of items he absolutely can’t pull off. “I wish I could dress like A$AP Rocky, he just has serious style,” he admitted. “We have been to quite a few different fittings together and I will see the craziest thing and really want to wear it, but look like a total moron. Then we will go to the show and I will see Rocky in it and be like, ‘Jesus Christ, you can literally wear anything!’”

Pattinson’s day-to-day style is pretty simple, usually consisting of T-shirts and light-wash jeans, but there is one thing he relies on, which will impress hypebeasts everywhere. Pattinson has a penchant for sold-out Palace Skateboards x Adidas Originals trainers; he gets his team to source them on Ebay and Depop. “A fresh pair of them only comes up every eight months or so,” he tells me. “I had a pair of them stolen off me once, but I saw them on Ebay and I know I bought them back off the thief. I have alerts on when they’re being sold; I’ll soon own every pair in existence,” he says, laughing.

But now that he is nearing his mid-thirties, and is a spokesperson for a grooming giant, it’s his skincare that he’s really decided to focus on (I’m addition to acting, of course.) “As I am getting older I’m definitely noticing things. I used to not do anything at all, up until a few years ago, and I can definitely see the difference [in my face now], especially if I am travelling a lot.”

Pattinson’s secret to giving his skin that youthful glow? “It’s very American Psycho, but those sheet masks make a massive difference. I’m fully committed and I even put an eye mask on over the top too. Try it!” At the time of talking, Pattinson has been off shooting Nolan’s Tenet for seven months and hasn’t been home once. “Self-care is important. I really appreciate coming home even though it’s only for a few days, just to give my skin and body a rest,” he finishes.

The next couple of years are set to be the biggest in Pattinson’s career, making intervals for self-care even less likely. He is currently filming Matt Reeves’ The Batman – which has its own physical demands, as seen with previous Batman portrayers – while Tenet will hit screens in July.

Until then, you’ll be able to see him dance, give plenty of sultry looks and don a superb tuxedo in the Dior Homme campaign.

Below is an interview from Madame Figaro online (Google translation)

“I claim my European origins, my taste for literature, music and auteur cinema. I always wanted only one thing: to do my job well and to be a good actor ”, soberly explains the English actor Robert Pattinson , as if it were a question of starting the interview with a clarification: to know the celebrity. was not a priority for him. What if his acting life began with a misunderstanding? How, indeed, explain that this cinephile, admirer of the New Wave, lover of Italian neorealist cinema, whose favorite film is One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, by Czech MiloÅ¡ Forman, became an icon at 22 years old? planetary, after playing the role of Edward Cullen, the vampire of Twilight? It is counting without chance which sometimes undoes things well. Explanation.

A precocious talent

Robert Pattinson wanted to be an actor, and his family supported him in this choice. He grew up in London in an affluent environment which frequents cinemas, theaters, which loves literature and music. At 15, he joined a theater company. At 17, he was spotted by an agent and shot two TV movies. At 19, he stars in the fourth episode of The Adventures of Harry Potter. Then Twilight . “I did not imagine that this saga would become such a success … Nobody, moreover, thought that it was going to turn into a tsunami”, comments today the one who pierced the hearts of millions of teenagers . Kristen Stewart , her partner in the series and ex-girlfriend,remembers “that time of agonizing and morbid worship” and “his public appearances” which turned into riots. A Russian astronomer even gave the young actor’s name to an asteroid: (246789) Pattinson. That is to say…

Getting rid of “Twilight”

His existence becomes a huge walkabout, while his dream would have been to live in greater tranquility. “I thought I would never get out of it. Such success can lock you up forever in a golden prison, and it’s hard to let go of an image, to become believable after such a role, which cannibalizes you. I had to think about my future choices very carefully. I had to consider everything according to my tastes, my origins and my desires. ” In 2012, year of the fifth episode of Twilight, Robert Pattinson begins a 180 degree turn. He has only one goal: to forget Edward Cullen, this invasive character with smooth, diaphanous skin and orange eyes. The young man begins to moult, as harsh as the ascent of the Himalayas. Each departure from base camp is a challenge, a form of relief that is part of the construction of his identity as a man and an artist.

Successful bet with David Cronenberg

The road to these heights he covets will go quickly. In his viewfinder? An auteur cinema at the height of the cinephile and the literary that he is. His Grail? He will find it first with the director David Cronenberg , the Canadian oracle filmmaker of modernity and its disturbances, immense goldsmith of fantastic atmospheres. It will be Cosmopolis , a terrible fable about capitalism seen through the eyes of a trader who spends his day cloistered in his limousine and who crosses New York . Pattinson plays Eric Packer, a golden boycynical and sexy, who is about to lose his empire because of the crisis. The star shows perfectly how the disease of money, success and possession, which radiates the film and characterizes our time, triggers morbid libidos. With this film, Robert Pattinson changes register and especially method: Cronenberg has the reputation of never having scenes rehearsed and of leaving his actors to themselves in the daze of improvisation. The film is presented in official competition in Cannes. The actor, excellent, realizes his dream and enters the big leagues.

Author cinema and blockbusters

Two years later, he climbs the steps of the Palais du Festival again, still with Cronenberg, for Maps to the Stars , a creaky satire on the Hollywood scene, where he co-starred with Julianne Moore and Mia Wasikowska . He’s the star. Touring with Cronenberg gave him the self-confidence and daring he needed to break free from the Twilight box . From role to role, the actor matures, gains momentum. Dark but deep. He shot The Lost City of Z with director James Gray (author of Little Odessa and Two Lovers ), then High Life with the French filmmaker Claire Denis – an emblem in her own right – whom he adores “for his passion for cinema”. At the end of 2019, we noticed him as an apprentice lighthouse keeper in The Lighthouse , with Willem Dafoe. A singular and rough black and white horror film directed by critically acclaimed Robert Eggers. And next July will release Tenet , by Christopher Nolan, pope of the “blockbuster with a soul”. A new proof of the intransigence of this actor apart.

Glamorous maturity

Robert Pattinson is now 34 years old. The impatient young Englishman has transformed into an imposing adult. A quiet force that the advertising campaign for the new perfume Dior Homme – of which he has been the muse since 2013 – stages. To celebrate this captivating new juice, more masculine and sophisticated, which sticks so well to his skin, the actor resuscitates in front of the camera of the duo The Blaze – Guillaume and Jonathan Alric, stars of French electro and music video artists – the figure of the urban hero, with his obvious sex appeal, his crazy allure and his attractive strangeness. The directors were able to film, in the streets of New York, an ultra-sensual Pattinson, in a T-shirt as in a tuxedo.

Today, on the horizon of all possibilities, the actor allows himself to no longer forbid himself anything. After having shone in the auteur cinema, he returned to blockbusters: he played the famous justice of Gotham City in The Batman , by Matt Reeves, an event film currently in the making, which will be released in 2021. Robert Pattinson continues to ‘advance masked. This is not the least of its charms.
