UPDATE: 24 September 2020

From Batman on Film:

Apparently, the production will sequester in a hotel and will even bring extras from London as opposed to hiring local folks from Liverpool to make sure the environment is safe as possible.

Keep in mind that the British government has halted the country’s reopening due to a surge of COVID-19 infections and could possibly be heading for another lockdown.  Here’s hoping that THE BATMAN doesn’t have to go on another long hiatus due to COVID-19 and can finish filming and finish safely. – Bill “Jett” Ramey

It appears Batman filming will also happen in Chicago. According to Screen Magazine:

The Chicago dates for THE BATMAN are set. Director Matt Reeves and his team will be shooting in Chicago for five days next month, and are currently in pre-production. Those days consist of two full weekends, beginning on October 16, 17, 18, then finishing up on October 24 and 25. Sources tell SCREEN that filming is expected to take place mostly in downtown Chicago, capturing some action-packed scenes with extensive driving sequences and a massive number of cameras in play. While it is a relatively brief shoot, it looks like THE BATMAN will offer a large-scale production that will employ plenty of Chicago and Illinois professionals.

Robert Pattinson, Colin Farrell in Chicago?

So the question Robert Pattinson and Colin Farrell fans might be asking right now is… who’s coming to the Windy City next month? Will Pattinson, Farrell, and the ensuing throngs of adoring fans be descending upon downtown Chicago in October? Or will it be primarily pro drivers and stunt doubles in their finest Batgear doing the heavy lifting for this city shoot? The answer is: we will probably all find out at the same time – when cameras roll on October 16th – as cast lists for October 16-25 have not yet been made available.

UPDATE: 22 September 2020:

Here’s another filming update in relation to The Batman. As we previously posted, filming recommenced on 17 September 2020. It was said earlier that the bulk of filming would be done in studio at Warner Bros Leavesden studios, but it it appears some location filming is still required. According to Batman on Film “Apparently it’s a great scene from the movie that they need to do in locations in Liverpool.” I just hope all goes well and this film finally his post-production for all involved. Whether Rob will be required for this filming is unknown to us, and to be honest, I can’t imagine the filming won’t be cloaked in secrecy.
