DC Fangirl interviewed JDW and asked if there was any joking around with Rob about the line “We live in a Twilight world”. Apparently there wasn’t any joking about that line, but there was some goofing around. Here’s what JDW had to say (I’ve started the video at the point where they start talking Rob):
There was all kinds of joking around. I mean Rob is hilarious. I think between Rob and Aaron Taylor Johnson, they need, I would love, we got to do a comedy together. They are hilarious to me. They were so funny in between takes and then they yell ‘action’ and they can turn it on. Rob is hysterical. I consider him a real friend. We went out a couple of times in Estonia and in Mumbai and I just love talking to the guy. The way he tells stories, his delivery and how he sees the world is so funny to me and he’s a tremendous talent, as you know. The chemistry was natural, it was organic and I want to keep working with him. I want to do something with him again.”
Lorraine from ITV also spoke with JDW about Rob:
He’s phenomenal actor. He’s one of the great actors working today, but I think what sets him apart other than that is his humility, he’s just a guy that loves what he does, does his job and you know he’s not being diva about it. He has the right attitude. The chemistry that ends up being on screen was very natural, something organic that happened. We developed our chr
10 September 2020: “It was love at first sight” JDW on the bromance with Robert Pattinson
The Face spoke to John David Washington to promote the release of Tenet and asked him about Rob. This is what JDW had to say:
Robert Pattinson recently said: “Right up until the last week of the shoot, I was talking to John David and asking him some pretty fundamental questions about who my character was. And John David was like: ‘Wait, you don’t know this?’†Was he fibbing?
[Smiles] Rob was very prepared. I think he knew plenty and that’s what makes him a good actor. He was ready to go. All the research that he’d done and the preparation, it made it easy just throwing it out on the day, going with it. He knew what he was doing and he did it phenomenally. He also said that at the start of the shoot he couldn’t keep up with you physically, not least because of your previous life as a professional American football player. Did you notice him getting fitter as filming went on?
[Laughs] Aha! He’s surprisingly nimble and he’s fast, too. He had to do quite a bit of running, especially towards the end of the shoot. That was the only friendly competition element that was on set: who was the faster runner? Which Chris would bring up from time to time, because he can run! He has those long legs. He handled it well from what I could see.…
I know Chris isn’t generally in the sequel business (um, Batman aside). But the unfolding bromance between your and Robert’s characters makes you think Tenet is crying out for a prequel-slash-sequel.
I will definitely guarantee this: if Chris calls me, I’ll be there. That’s for sure.
What kind of Batman do you think Robert’s going to make?
He’s surprisingly physical, I think he’s a hidden athlete. People are gonna see that more and more. He’s perfect. And he’s got the perfect chin.
If you had to pick one scene or set-up in the movie that was your favourite to film, what would that be and why?
That’s like picking who’s your favourite child, man! I love them all differently. I had some great times with Elizabeth, especially the restaurant scene. She opened up a can of acting that I had to catch up to, quite frankly. Rob as well, he was doing some things that were just brilliant, and again I had to catch up. Kenneth was literally speaking backwards with an accent! I’ve never seen that before. So a lot of learning on set is what I did.
JDW also talks Rob and Tenet with ETalk! I’ve set the vid to start where he mentions Rob
Thanks @SleepyyO-O for heads up on JDW above.
Updated: 1 September 2020 – here’s a few more interviews of JDW singing Rob’s praises. I’ve started at the moment he talks Rob
“It was love at first sight” LOL Love it!
Can I just add, that of ALL the people in ALL the world that we had to choose from, I’m so glad we chose Rob as the one to follow. Let’s just take a minute to pat ourselves on the back x
