What we know so far about Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves’ #TheBatman
Firstly, shout out to @ShatterverseEnt who shared his latest The Batman edit with us. I love it – although I find myself saying that about all his edits. They are truly fabulous. If you’re not familiar with his artwork you should head on over to his twitter via the link above.
Since posting that The Batman was in pre-production as at 30 June 2019, we haven’t learnt very much about the film, there’s been rumours and what not, but today we were treated to the following tidbits:
According to Geeks Worldwide:
Exclusive: The GWW has learned that Matt Reeves is aiming to get cameras rolling on ‘The Batman’ on January 13th in London, England.
Discussing Film tweeted today that Robert Richardson has been added as cinematographer. You may be familiar with some of the films he has been involved with if you are familiar with Martin Scorcese, Quentin Tarantino or Oliver Stone. If you’re not, then head on over to his official website.
UPDATED: BELOW INFO ON ROBERT RICHARDSON – 19 JULY 2019
From THR:
“I’m not shooting The Batman. … I have never met with Matt Reeves,” Richardson told The Hollywood Reporter during an interview Thursday for an upcoming Behind the Screen podcast about his latest film, Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
James Chinlund has also been added as the production designer. His previous works include Jon Favreau’s The Lion King, Spike Lee’s 25th Hour and also Matt Reeves’ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes.
RPOutsidetheBox let me know that Assistant Directors David Webb (Joker, Live by Night) and Tobey Hefferman (Wonder Woman 84, Fury) have also joined Matt Reeves.
Michael Giacchino may also have hinted on his Instagram that he might be involved with The Batman score. Yes it’s just a Batman pic but Michael did do the two Planet of the Apes films.
UPDATE: 19 JULY FROM We Got This Covered re Michael Giacchino
“Matt and I worked on Planet of the Apes together, we made Cloverfield. Matt is really big, Matt’s amazing. So, Matt wanted me to tell you that he’s working very hard to make a good movie… I’ve actually been able to see a few things that he’s showed me that he’s working on and it’s pretty darn awesome. It looks really, really amazing.â€
No co-stars have been announced as yet, but I did come across these Tweets from Mark Hughes last week:
“Yes, you’ll be hearing more casting news a/b The Batman soon, as calls have gone out for a whole litany of characters, especially a wide array of villains appearing in the film. Fans are gonna go nuts when they hear names & # of characters, Reeves is building a full bat-world.”
“As I said, they’re already actively seeking actors for a bunch of roles, so I expect it pretty soon. I won’t put a number or date on it, as I can’t predict that. It depends on how soon they decide to reveal info or how soon details leak out. But it’s a LOT of characters. A. LOT.”
“They are specifically casting “diverse” for characters.”
The release date for the film is scheduled for 25 June 2021 and we have added release dates for specific countries to our film page. Aussies may not see us listed there as yet, but you can rest assured that Roadshow confirmed to RPAU that they will be releasing the film in Australia (in conjunction with Warner Bros).
Interesting times ahead that’s for sure.
