Updated with actuals
As at 8 March 2015: The figures at the moment are only “estimates”, since the official figures usually don’t come out until tomorrow my time, but I thought I would share this information until then. According to Box Office Mojo the estimate so far is $264,100 (figures haven’t been updated for the weekend, but they are estimating it at $64,000), the week so far is $200,128. It’s not bad considering I’m told that there is hardly any advertising for Maps in the US. I am still trying to obtain the figures for VOD, so stay tuned. If you haven’t seen it yet and you want to know where you can, head on over to our post for a full list of cinemas or how to watch at home here.
As at 9 March 2015: Box Office Mojo have posted “actuals” – $271,250. Guess they weren’t far off with their estimates. Oh and I can’t get VOD figures unless the movie ranks within the “top 10” apparently.
Update No 2: Joan pointed out in the comments section that the Foreign total shown above has to be incorrect given they made more than that in France. So here’s the total $3,568,959 (I have no idea why they still claim $987,624 (as of 25 May 2014) as Foreign Total. So according to my calculations total worldwide earnings is USD$3,840,209 and bear in mind not all territories are even accounted for if you look at the historical release dates
66 theaters in the US is such a small release. However it trumps Oz that only had 2 if my memory serves me.
Hi! Isn’t the worldwide number counted wrong? I thought that it already earned in France more than that… Or am I wrong?
Correct @Carmel 2 only – 1 in Sydney and 1 in Melbourne.
Hi Joan – most probably. I mentioned in my post last week that I don’t take worldwide figures from Box Office Mojo seriously. They haven’t even included Australia and you’ll see that the worldwide for France is most definitely more than they are showing ha! But I’ll update this post with figures.
Thanks for the answer! So weird…I know that they don’t regularly update these numbers and sometimes even omit some, but this time it is a pretty significant number and it doesn’t seem like they are eager to change it, hopefully they will at some point, because it is greatly misleading. Have a nice day! 🙂
Thanks Joan. Yeah I admit I didn’t even look at it. Rentrak has better figures but unfortunately they only publish top 10 when it comes to movies and VOD. I spoke to them yesterday and they aren’t able to give out figures for individual movies 🙁
