I would love for Rob to be back at Cannes next year. You might recall we posted The Playlist’s predictions on what they hoped to see during the Fall Festival earlier this year. Now it’s included in their 15 Films that Failed to Hit the 2014 Fall Film Festival Circuit:
“Life”
What Is It? After delving into the world of espionage for “The American” and “A Most Wanted Man,” photographer-turned-filmmaker Anton Corbijn returns to a subject closer to his heart, the one in which he made his name. “Life” centers on magazine photographer Dennis Stock and his friendship with movie star James Dean, and Corbijn’s attracted two of the hottest young leading men around, with Robert Pattinson as Stock, and Dane DeHaan as Dean (Ben Kingsley and Joel Edgerton are also among the cast, with Kingsley playing studio boss Jack Warner). Little is known about the project beyond that at this point, but we’re excited nevertheless.
What Happened? Simply, it wasn’t ready. Corbijn’s “A Most Wanted Man” premiered at Sundance and was released this summer, and the director had to interrupt his post-production schedule on “Life” (which filmed back in February) to do the promotion rounds on that. As such, Corbijn told us that the film wouldn’t be locked until the end of October, making it too late for the festival circuit this time around, although he’d initially hoped to premiere at TIFF.
When Will We See It? Assuming that it sticks to that October completion date, Sundance seems to be a good bet, before possibly heading to Berlin afterwards. But it could end up being held until Cannes we suppose, although Corbijn would be first-timer there.”
Speculation of course, but I imagine it would be at least be at one of these festivals. *Fingers&toescrossed*

C’mon Cannes! Make it a trifecta for Rob. Hell, no. Make it mandatory that every film he’s in makes it to Cannes. *somersaults*
I really really really want to see this movie. It kills me to have to wait. I’m sure it will find it’s feet at the proper festival
Oh I love that thought @Trish.
Didn’t Corbijn say in an old interview a few months ago that it most likely won’t be available this year, or was that someone from QOTD? I can’t fully remember.
@Julie yes he did and I think that’s the point of the article that it missed the fall festivals because it wouldn’t be finalised until this month hence why it won’t be released until next year.
But Cassian Elwes also said that about QOTD since people assumed it would be ready for TIFF. They obviously wanted to change a few things with QOTD because they have done test screenings.
Why do they have to use the words ‘fails to make it’ it hasn’t failed, it simply was not ready. Fails has other implications. Sorry I’m a bit grumpy, not feeling the best.
