The Washington Post printed an interview with Werner Herzog where he mentioned Queen of the Desert:

“For his next project, the director of “Into the Abyss” is returning to death row for a follow-up to his “On Death Row” series, and he’s still hoping to make a film about the life of Middle East pioneer Gertrude Bell starring Naomi Watts and Robert Pattinson titled “Queen of the Desert.” He said coordinating all the actors’ schedules has made it difficult.”

“Difficult” but not impossible.  I note with some relief that it doesn’t mention Franco, but I better not get too excited.

Ha ha ha I’m with you in that, I was SO disapointed when I read that Jude Law couldn’t make it, and that he would be replaced by Franco, yeurk ! 😛 So keeping our fingers crossed (and toes and everything that can be 😀 ) But Jude and Robert in the same movie… *super sigh*

LOL me too re: Franco. Would be nice if we never heard anything about him again in regards to QOTD. *fingers & toes tightly crossed* all comes together for the movie. Thanks for the update Maria.

Isn’t it weird? I don’t particularly like James Franco, either. Why is that??? He’s (apparently) super talented and intelligent – he’s not bad looking – just don’t like him for some reason. And yes, I agree with you ladies – him in this movie feels WRONG. Jude Law, however… OMG – two Dior icons on the same screen… *thud* Crossing everything crossable at this end that this movie happens (with Rob on board, of course!) Thanks for the update, Maria!

I agree @Trish. I actually think Franco is good looking but he seems to me to have an underlying arrogance and I just find that a turn off.

Oh yeah absolutely everything crossed for this too….hope it is not too long before Rob is T. E. Lawrence. That has awesome written all over it and a fascinating story of Gertrude Bell to be told. I really can’t wait!! Thanks for the update Maria 🙂
