You all know that we are passionate about the fact that we believe Rob will one day be at least nominated (well I believe “win”) an Oscar and so I had to post this great article written by Jeremy Helligar of True/Slant on his opinion of who out of Twilight will be destined for an oscar. Of course I’ve only posted the Rob section, but if you want to read the full article you can click on the highlighted link. You can’t say I’m biased, but I pretty much agree with everything Jeremy has said (and I think most of you know that already). Thanks to our elite affie Spunk Ransom for the tip:
“What about Robert Pattinson? My money’s on this one. And not just because he recently confirmed that I’m not the only one who’s counting down the years to the end of the blockbuster Twilight franchise.
It can get a little boring,†Robert Pattinson told the New York Times. “The good news is that the whole thing is done in seven months.â€
Unfortunately for Pattinson, that’s only when filming on Breaking Dawn, the fourth and fifth installments of the vampire saga will be completed, but with the fifth and final film not due until the summer of 2012, Twilight will continue to be the bane of Pattinson’s existence for years to come.
On the bright side, by the time part two of Breaking Dawn comes around, Pattinson could be well known for something else entirely. For all three of his upcoming non-Twilight projects, he’s forsaking the Hollywood genre pics in which the studios are no doubt dying to cast him in favor of artier, more prestigious fare. His success will depend less on producing big box-office returns than turning in well-received performances.
I’ve written before about how there’s more to Pattinson than Edward Cullen. In fact, if anything, Twilight is a departure from what seems to make Pattinson tick as an actor. The two highest profile non-Twilight films in which he has had a leading role, this year’s Remember Me and 2008 Little Ashes, were not major successes, but these performances must have convinced casting directors to allow him to step out of the corner that Twilight easily could have boxed him into.
For now, he’s a sort of twentysomething male Nicole Kidman, balancing big mainstream films (the Twilights) with smart, artier fare. But judging from Pattinson’s three upcoming non Edward Cullen roles, once Twilight is over, he’s more likely to go the Kate Winslet post-Titanic route, taking risky acting assignments in mostly period pieces. Who needs to play Kurt Cobain when you’ve got projects like these lined up?
Bel Ami

Water for Elephants

Oscar-winning and Tony-winning costars Rachel Weisz as Pattinson’s mom and Hugh Jackman as the guy who helps her find her missing kids
Oscar bait Comanche, the language Pattinson speaks throughout the film
Aside from the obvious Oscar potential of all three films, the best thing about them is that there’ll be no car chases, no explosions and best of all, no vampires.”
Maria:Â Ok maybe I’m a little biased, but I know talent when I see it and we are looking at it here every-freakin-day.
Â
I agree Maria . Have always thought that Rob has a huge future ahead of him! And it’s such a privilege to follow his journey and watch him grow as a person and an actor! I feel like a proud mum!! 🙂
PS can’t wait to hear Rob speaking “Comanche”!!
Yep, those arms will be aloft sooner rather than later! His choice of films shows his obvious intelligence and careful planning of his future….and we’ll be with him every step of the way, won’t we girls!! Methinks he’ll be featuring in award nights for many, many years to come and long after Twilight has finished.
wow, i love hearing people talk about rob being so much more than just edward cullen.
im so glad people see that he has so much more potential than just playing a vampire
because to be honest twilight does not showcase his talents at all, im so glad he is doing movies like bel ami and water for elephants so that people will really see what his made of
Thank you Jeremy for writing such a great article. I truly believe & know that Rob will one day (and soon) be nominated for an Oscar & he WILL win. He is just so talented, anyone with eyes can see that. We have known it for SO long now & it’s great to see people are catching up & giving him the credit he so deserves as an actor. I seriously feel so very lucky & also priviledged to be able to witness Rob’s brilliant career & see it go from strength to strength. It will be a very proud day indeed when he is up on stage accepting that award. Will be proud tears – no doubt about that. No one deserves it more than he does. As I have said a million times before & will say again – I just absolutely cannot wait for BA, W4E, UC & of course all the other amazing roles Rob has in store. Exciting times ahead everyone, just cannot wait 🙂 Thanks so much for posting Maria.
Yes Me too Foobs!. I got all chocked up reading that article and all your girls comments, thanks Maria it has made my day.
I know everyone – it’s going to be such a proud moment for us all. Ye of little faith – cannot wait to see them eat their words. I’ve known he was destined for greatness once I saw him as Toby in HA -I will always say that although I noticed him in GoF it was HA that made me very very aware of Rob.
Thanks so much for posting this Maria!!! It makes me so happy to read articles like this. We all here know how talented this gorgeous young man is but it is sooooo good to see it validated by an “expert” as well. Thanks again!!!
I totally agree. After seeing Remember Me I knew this guy is Acadmy Award material!! Can’t Wait until he wins.
He has the most interesting, charismatic personna. He has Oscar written all over him. Love his film choices. I wish Twilight was over.
None of us here would disagree with this article. Rob is destined for an Oscar of that much i’m sure and yes the tears will definitely be flowing. He deserves every good thing that comes his way. What a great article this is. No bias Maria just the facts as we here all know them!!
Ye, I am agree with the article, too. Robert Patinnson is so talented actor and I really like his choice of movies, I hope he will do it so smart in the future to. I can’t wait so see Bela Ami, W4E and UC. I am really exciting to see how he is better and better in the every movie. So, I am just wondering for which movie he will get the Oscar.
Finally, the voice of reason! This is sooo exciting to hear, we of course know he is destined for great things but is so nice to see someone writing about how talented Rob is and how bright his future shines. Can’t wait to see his future projects and watch his career go from strength to strength.
Thanks for sharing this with us Maria brought a smile to my face and a tear to my eye 🙂
I have the bottle of champagne chilling to prove how much we believe.
And the winner is. (drum roll) The wonderful Robert Pattinson!
It’s just a matter of time.
*pops the cork*
There is no doubt that in the near future, with the wonderful new films he has in agenda, there will be, there must be a nomination for him, for something great. He deserves it. He has been working very very hard to be in better and out of the main stream, Hollywood typecast films (Bel Amie, Little Ashes), and the roles are getting more difficult and more demanding of his acting, and for sure, the powers that be will (they have) to notice. Let´s start poping the cork…to you, smashing Robert, from your adoring fans!!!
he will get an oscar when he will portray someone ugly and downright miserable but totally endearing! personally i think he would be perfect in a wuthering heights/ edward (yet again!) rochester role. he’s the perfect byronic character. imagine him playing the role of LORD BYRON. swoon…
@me me me – you can’t say stuff like that and expect me to be able to concentrate at all. LOL – I would love him to play Lordy Byron. Oh God now I’m thinking about Georges – see – hahaha.
