Rob that’s exactly how I feel when I read crap reviews about Remember me – they just don’t get it.  That was until I read Monika Bartyzel from Cinematic article and review of Remember Me.  Monika totally gets it where so many others haven’t.  This is one of the best articles I’ve personally read to date.   WARNING:  If you haven’t seen the movie then DON’T read beyond here since “spoilerish” is an understatement.  Monika I don’t think I’ve ever agreed with a reviewer more.  This film is brilliant and to those who don’t or refuse to see it for what it is – it’s definitely your loss.

Welcome to the Post-Movie Coffee. Much like a discuss post, this occasional series will tackle thoughts our Cinematical writers are mulling over about recent releases. You know — those plot points and discussion topics you want to dig into with a coffee after a screening.

The idea for this series has been swimming around in my head for a while, but it never insisted on hitting the written page until now. Last week, Robert Pattinson’s Remember Me hit the screen. Before its release, public concern focused on how Pattinson would deal with a mainstream starring role that didn’t have him grimacing every time the tasty-smelling Bella Swan walked by. Once people saw the film and its controversial ending, however, the dialogue flipped. In what has to be one of the lowest scores for a decent movie, the film has suffered a 26% Fresh rating at Rotten Tomatoes, with critiques flinging words like ridiculous, manipulative, overwrought, shamelessly exploitative, insignificant, trivializing, vile, cheap, and unforgivable.

And for the first time in a very long time, I completely disagree with popular critical opinion.

(Seeing that this is a discussion of the film and its ending, here is your obvious SPOILER WARNING.)”

Thank you so much Monika for writing this wonderful article & review. FINALLY someone who gets it. Agree with you completely. Seriously I have sat here reading these other people’s so called ‘reviews’ & am just left shaking my head in anger at their comments & questioning if they even watched the film at all. It annoys me beyond words that they are not giving this wonderful story, Rob, the cast & crew, the credit & praise that they so truly deserve. They clearly have no idea, just no idea at all. This film is brilliant & those who cannot or choose not to see that, you are missing out on something so so special. Definitely your great loss. You need to open up your eyes for 5 mins & see what’s right in front of you. Thanks for posting Maria, so great to finally see a review worth being in print.

Finally! I was beginning to think in order to be a movie critic you got your qualifications out of a weet-bix box!

@Sare – ignore my last email to you. Here’s the comment but I had to delete the rest because UK still hasn’t seen it – but I agree with you 100%!

That’s ok @Sare – what you said was absolutely true though. They are so insular.

Sare I honestly think most of the movie critics pull their creds from a weetbix box hon This lady at least thank goodness knows what the hell she is talking about This movie has stayed with me since i watched it last sat. And when i go to adelaide next fri i will be seeing it again and i tell anyone who asks me what a fantastic movie it is and how great everyone especially Rob Em and Ruby are in it

@Cindy – I saw it again today (that’s 3 for me) and it was the same cinema that I saw it in last week. 15 people and no twifans to be seen anywhere. Older audience who really appreciated the film from what I can tell. In fact it’s the first session I’ve been to that I was actually the first to leave (after waiting for Rob’s name on credits of course). Everyone else I think was “riveted” to their seats! I think this movie might be a creeper.

That is so so great to hear Maria. I am travelling to CMax to see RM again on Thursday & cannot wait. Hopefully there will be good numbers there again like the first session I went to. I rang my local cinema today & by the way the girl spoke to me they have had tonnes of people asking why RM is not screening here but yet they do nothing to change it. They are morons, they truly are. I love you CMax for having the brains & sense to screen this brilliant film.

I’m going again on Tuesday (my 2nd time) and I’m taking a friend of mine who is not a Rob fan at all. She is not “educated” and thinks that Rob has only been in HP DOF and Twilight, and the first question was “can he actualy act?”
I told her she has to see it and she agreed, so I’ll see what her comments are after the movie.
