Robert Pattinson may have wanted to be an actor without being a celebrity. But then he turned his fame into its own kind of performance. “I can’t believe this is still going,” he said in an interview with The New York Times Style Magazine. https://t.co/vvTtIFf4Oepic.twitter.com/qapbbM7Kkn
So it appears the release of Mickey17 has now been pushed back to 18 April 2025. I must have missed this news 2 weeks ago probably due to denial, but Collider confirms as follows:
“Looks like we’re going to have to wait a bit longer to see Mickey 17, which is Bong Joon-ho’s eagerly awaited follow-up to Parasite . Warner Bros. has moved the release date of Mickey 17, the Robert Pattinson-led sci-fi thriller, from January 31, 2025, to April 18, 2025, which will let the film take advantage of IMAX screens, as well as potentially bring in bigger audiences during the Easter holiday season. The film also stars Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo.
Back before the movie release date musical chairs started, Mickey 17was competing with the Michael Jackson biopic Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua, for premium screens in April, but Lionsgate has high hopes for the biopic and shunted it down the line to October in the hopes of capturing some awards attention. That freed up the April 18 slot and allowed Warner Bros. to secure it for Mickey 17.”
and there’s some new footage in the trailer above!
Looks like Rob is going to be extremely busy next year what with promoting Mickey17 and possibly Die My Love and The Drama (although release dates are yet to be confirmed) let’s not forget filming Batman 2, and if that’s not enough, Daniel Richtman broke the news that Rob is joining the cast of Christopher Nolans “under wraps” new film which is due to be released on 17 July 2026. According to Daniel via World of Reel:
“Robert Pattinson is being eyed for a role in Christopher Nolan’s next film. So far, the cast includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o and Zendaya. The film starts production this January and will be shooting in numerous countries across Europe.
No word yet on plot details, let alone a title, for Nolan’s next film. It’s being kept top secret and we probably won’t really know anything until next year. I gather a teaser will be released in Summer 2025, and that’s when we’ll probably learn what the movie is called and what subject it might tackle.
Various theories have been posited online about the project. Gizmodo claimed that it was a ‘20s-set Vampire movie. Variety reported that it might be a spy movie. THR heard rumblings about a “father-son” story (which they later recanted). Grace Randolph claimed that it was maybe a “horror film.” Meanwhile, a Reddit rumor suggested that it could be an action movie influenced by 1983’s “Blue Thunder.”
Matt Belloni had previously reported that Nolan started writing the screenplay for this next film back in March, just a few days after “Oppenheimer” triumphed at the Oscars. Universal Pictures will distribute. The film is set for release on July 17, 2026.
“Sources say that Damon, Holland, Hathaway and now Pattinson make up the core leads of the feature. Nyong’o and Zendaya are said to have supporting roles.
The filmmaker is producing alongside his partner and wife Emma Thomas for their Syncopy banner. A shoot in the first half of 2025 is being planned.
…
The actor is due to return to Batman for Matt Reeves’ sequel and there was hope that it could shoot sometime next year. Those hopes remain in place but nothing is close to being planned.”
