Robert Pattinson Films Predicted to Premiere at Cannes 2018
[Denis] is incredible. I’m not just saying that, she’s like one of the most fascinating people to work for. I was saying to her at the end of the shoot, she’s the most authentic punk that I’ve even met in my life. Just someone who can control a set. She’s so tiny, and to me she’s the most definitive auteur I’ve ever worked with as well.” Robert Pattinson, 2017
2012 saw Rob on the Croisette in competition for the first time with David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis“. Two years later Rob would be back on that red carpet, firstly for a special midnight screening of David Michôd’s “The Rover” (not in competition) and then for his second David Cronenberg film in competition “Maps to the Stars“. 2017 saw Rob return yet again for another film in competition, the Safdie Bros “Good Time” which received a 6 minute standing ovation and garnered great reviews for not just the film but Rob’s performance. This year we are waiting patiently until 12 April to see if Claire Denis’s “High Life” makes the cut as predicted by the following media outlets:
The UK had a strong presence in 2017 topped by joint best screenplay winners Lynne Ramsay’s You Were Never Really Hereand Yorgos Lanthimos’s The Killing Of A Sacred Deer. While Lanthimos’s follow-up, bawdy period drama The Favourite, is believed to be aiming for an autumn debut, there are plenty of UK titles thought to be heading for the Croisette. Among titles tipped for a possible Cannes splash are Joanna Hogg’s romantic mystery The Souvenir: Part 1, executive-produced by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert Pattinson, Tom Burke, Ariane Labed and Richard Ayoade  … while hopes are high that Claire Denis will finish her sci-fi tale High Life, starring Robert Pattinson, Mia Goth and Juliette Binoche, in time for a Cannes splash.  [MARIA: Although we know Rob’s not in The Souvenir: Part 1 it would not surprise me if he turns up in a cameo in that film. Stranger things have happened as we all know.]
And then there are Cannes regulars Naomi Kawase, whose “Visionâ€Â will almost surely be invited, and French director Claire Denis, poised to land her first competition berth in 30 years (since 1988’s “Chocolatâ€) for her ambitious, English-language sci-fi drama “High Lifeâ€Â with Robert Pattinson. Coincidentally, both films star busy French actress Juliette Binoche, who has yet another shot at competition, reteaming with “The Clouds of Sils Maria†director Olivier Assayas for “Non Fiction,â€Â set in the French publishing world. [My emphasis]
France will of course have a say in the race at La Palme. After Market Law , Stéphane Brizé could return to Cannes with Another World (still with Vincent Lindon in the lead role), the story of employees trying to save their jobs. Eva Husson discovered with Bang Gang (a modern love story)  has her chances with The Girls of the Sun who dwells on the fate of Kurdish fighters. A strong subject! We would very much like to see Claire Denis and her High Life (an SF movie with Robert Pattinson !)…[My emphasis]
“High Lifeâ€
Director:Â Claire Denis
Cast: Robert Pattinson, Juliette Binoche
The beloved French auteur is a Cannes regular — she’s screened four of her features at the festival, plus she led the Un Certain Regard jury back in 2010 — so to say that Cannes is a natural fit for her spacey new film is an understatement. This is where “High Life†belongs, and should our prediction out, the film (Denis’ first English-language feature!) will likely be one of the more talked about offerings on the Croisette. Starring Robert Pattinson and Juliette Binoche, the film follows a group of criminals who are sent on a space mission straight into a black hole, all under the assumption that the mission will ultimately lead to their freedom. That’s weird enough, but the film also reportedly builds in a subplot about sexual experimentation that makes it even more out there. Pattinson himself has already called the project “definitely nuts,†and that’s saying something. –KE
HIGH LIFE
The new film by Claire Denis starring Robert Pattinson and the story of a villain accepting to participate in an experiment in space. There he will realize that a doctor in the crew wants to do sexual experiments with people.
Binoche also stars in High Life – the latest from Cannes regular Claire Denis (Nenette and Boni). As an ambitious sci-fi movie following a father & daughter’s struggle to survive deep space, with a cast including Robert Pattinson (Good Time), Mia Goth (A Cure for Wellness), and Outkast’s André Benjamin, High Life could make for an exciting, high-profile spectacle at the festival.

We will know in less than a month whether we will see Rob shine on the Croisette yet again.
***UPDATED***
Elsewhere, Claire Denis’ VFX-rich High Life has been tipped, although, as with others, it’s not certain it will be done in time. Robert Pattinson and Juliette Binoche star in the deep-space-set adventure. Binoche could be in town with Olivier Assayas’ Non-Fiction, a comedy set in the publishing world and co-starring Guillaume Canet. She could also see more red carpet action with Naomi Kawase’s Vision.
4. High Life
French auteur Claire Denis has a love-hate relationship with Cannes – her films sometimes considered a little too esoteric for the glitzy prestige of the main competition. Though it’s hard to see how festival top dog Thierry Frémaux could hold out on this cerebral sci-fi yarn starring Robert Pattinson, Juliet Binoche and (that girl again!) Mia Goth. The log-line involves a team of intrepid explorers drifting towards a black hole and undergoing a series of “sexual experimentsâ€, so one for the competition, but maybe not for the multiplexes. Either way, anticipation is off the grid. DJ
Claire Denis ,  High Life
The filmmaker A Beautiful Inner Sun, presented at the opening of the Directors’ Fortnight last year, is very likely to return to competition with, sacred gamble, a science fiction devoted to a mission in space. The crew looks great, with Robert Pattinson, … and, again (and it’s not over …), Juliette Binoche.
High Life , science fiction film by French Claire Denis, with Robert Pattinson and Juliette Binoche, would be big candidates.
He is still ugly
And yet here you are again
Wonderful round up. Thanks Maria
