Robert Pattinson #Damsel in Competition and World Premiere at Berlinale

When I posted the other day that Damsel would be part of EFM at Berlinale, I really wasn’t expecting today’s news.  Damsel is in competition and will have its world premiere at Berlinale (which runs from 15 to 25 February 2018).  And here’s what everyone’s had to say about it:

From Berlinale:

Criterion Collection:

Big announcement today from the Berlin International Film Festival, whose sixty-eighth edition runs from February 15 through 25. Following the first round of titles slated for the Competition and Berlinale Special revealed last month, the Berlinale’s now added another thirteen. …

Damsel, David and Nathan Zellner (Kid-Thing, Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter). With Robert Pattinson, Mia Wasikowska, David Zellner, Nathan Zellner, Robert Forster, and Joe Billingiere. International premiere. From Sundance: “It’s a classic tale of the Old West: Samuel Alabaster is a man searching for his true love. Parson Henry is another, much drunker man, searching for a new start. Penelope is a woman who has found her own path. And Rufus Cornell is just a mean bastard with a taste for buckskin. There’s rotgut, rawhide, rootin’, tootin’, and hootin’. Plus, a little tiny horse.”

Screen Daily:

Also new to competition is David and Nathan Zellner’s Damsel, the western about a US businessman who travels to join his fiancée in the mountains, starring Robert Pattinson and Mia Wasikowska.

The Playlist:

Meanwhile, the Zellner Bros. “Damsel” starring Robert Pattinson and Mia Wasikowska gets a pre-Sundance boost as it joins the Competition lineup in Berlin.

Variety:

The competition lineup for the Berlin International Film Festival is taking shape, with the organizers adding a raft of new titles Monday, including Robert Pattinson-starrer “Damsel.”

Pattinson stars opposite Mia Wasikowska in period Western comedy “Damsel,” which is directed by David and Nathan Zellner. It will have its world premiere at Sundance and its international premiere at Berlin.

The Hollywood Reporter:

David Zellner’s Damsel, which will have its world premiere in Sundance, is one of the few U.S. titles in the running for Berlin’s Golden Bear. The period drama stars Robert Pattinson as a businessman who travels West to join his fiancee (Mia Wasikowska) in the mountains.
