Robert Pattinson featuring in In Style Germany November issue

I have used Google translate for the questions and answers only.  It’s rough but you get the gist.

The critics agree: this role is the best of your career so far. How did you prepare?

I’ve devised a whole biography of my character Connie, including all the details of his criminal career. And I moved weeks before shooting to New York to live undercover in the neighborhood that was supposed to serve as a venue.

How unrecognized can you stay as Robert Pattinson?
My great concern was actually that paparazzi recognize me, track and get wind of the shooting. Then everything would had been ruined. Because we wanted to turn a lot on the street-even without permission, so that it looks rough and authentic. That’s why I tried to make myself invisible and we experimented with different make-ups, even with smallpox scars. The result was totally amazing. No one recognized me anymore, even if they stood right next to me.

Have you felt free in these moments
It was fantastic. Especially if you are constantly being watched and any woman who is close to you is suddenly a potential new girlfriend. I am now trying to stop thinking about such things.

Do you feel you still need to prove that you can play more than one modern vampire?

I know that after the end of Twilight, I was very critical and skeptical. What can the Pattinson really do? And I have accepted roles in which I have not really felt very comfortable. Then something is blocking me and that is not good. This movie was a risk, but it worked. Today I have more self-confidence.

Many actors dream of becoming world famous. You reached that when you were just 20.

I just wanted to make great movies. Twilight was my first big movie, I was not prepared for the worldwide success. To stand before thousands of fans who cheer you all is very unreal. In the beginning I wanted my old life back. But at some point I realized that it does not exist anymore.

You have two older sisters. Did that impress you?

As a younger brother, I was somewhat outside. But I was not a typical boy who always plays football. I am a bit of a loner, but sometimes I wish I could play football better (laughs).

Thanks Posh.

Thanks for the post! I’m glad to see he is getting more comfortable with himself, the public, and his career choices. It’s about time others see in him what we have known all along.
