“Globally bankable “Twilight†veteran Robert Pattinson”
“Opens strong”, “globally bankable”, “robust start” – what a fabulous result for all involved.
From Deadline:
Josh and Benny Safdie’s latest, Good Time also had a robust start with its initial run in four theaters. The A24 release starring Robert Pattinson, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Benny Safdie grossed $137,625, averaging $34,406, making it one of the top tier PTAs of the year and well ahead the filmmaking duo’s previous feature, Heaven Knows What which opened in May, 2015 in two locations averaging $8,431, though that feature did not have the star wattage of Good Time.
A24 said Sunday that the feature skewed younger. The title’s top two locations were the Arclight Hollywood and Union Square in New York, both of which drew both specialized and crossover audiences. Good Time will roll out to several top markets this weekend ahead of a national expansion on August 25.
From IndieWire:
Good Time (A24) – Metacritic: 84; Festivals include: Cannes 2017
$137,625 in 4 theaters; PTA: $34,406
The Safdie brothers (Ben and Josh) have been laboring in modest budget independent films for a number of years, and now boast their biggest opener. Collaborating with globally bankable “Twilight†veteran Robert Pattinson in this taut thriller about an attempt to get his brother out of prison after a bank robbery, the genre flick scored strong reviews and elevated support from busy A24. Appearances by the actor Friday night boosted some Manhattan shows (this also opened in Los Angeles) with the initial gross, similar to that of “Ingrid†(which played in one less theater) standing among the best of the summer.
What comes next:Â After an expansion next week, this will go wider on August 25.
From Time:
In limited release, the A24 crime thriller “Good Time,” starring Robert Pattinson, debuted with a robust $34,000 per-screen average on four screens. That was bettered, though, by the $47,000 screen-average of Neon’s “Ingrid Goes West,” with Aubrey Plaza, on three screens. Both films expand in coming weeks.
From BoxOfficeMojo:
Right behind Ingrid when it comes to theater averages was A24’s Good Time, which brought in an estimated $137,625 from four NY and LA theaters for a $34,406 per theater average. The crime thriller, which stars Robert Pattinson, will expand into several top markets next weekend, ahead of a national expansion on August 25.
Adorable gif and great news for Good Time! *claps hands*
