Robert Pattinson given the opportunity to show off a completely new side of himself in Good Time trailer
Here’s a few of the initial reactions to the trailer. Â I will add as I come across more. Â One thing is for sure, people are definitely taking notice of Robert’s career path.

New York sibling directors Josh and Benny Safdie cracked the competition this year with their heist thriller “Good Time,†but it’s likely to attract the most attention for star Robert Pattinson. Now firmly into his post-“Twilight†phase, the actor plays a bank-robbing New Yorker trying to help his mentally disabled brother over the course of a single frantic night. Pattinson, who has been in Cannes competition before with David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis,†is well positioned to wow audiences already enamored of his earlier roles with something edgier and more surprising; he could be a strong contender for the festival’s acting prize.
Indiewire (Zach Sharf)
“Good Time†looks like it will continue the Safdie tradition of visceral, gritty and utterly hypnotic indie filmmaking. It should also be another unpredictable entry in Pattinson’s growing oeuvre. The actor has become an indie favorite thanks to collaborations with David Michod, David Cronenberg, Werner Herzog and James Gray. It’s safe to say working with the Safdie Bros should give Pattinson the opportunity to show off a completely new side of himself.
GOOD TIME is a psychotic symphony of propulsive intensity crafted by two of the most exciting young directors working today. Josh and Ben Safdie’s transcendent vision is an intoxicating portrait of desperation and destruction that will not be soon forgotten.
Robert Pattinson stars as “Connie”, a wild kid in New York who gets even deeper into the crime world in an effort to get his brother out of jail. This trailer does a nice job of introducing the story and setting up everything, so dive right in.
… the trailer shows off Safdies’ intense, on-the-ground style, hinting at quite a performance from Pattinson.
Pattinson is almost unrecognizable here as a crook looking to bail his brother out of jail following a botched robbery, one for which he was clearly responsible on some level. … The guy has the goods, and he may never be recognized for it. But I don’t think he cares. … Robert Pattinson is a great actor. There, I said it.
Following the intense original trailer Good Time, which shows us a Pattinson and further away from the roles of his early adolescence.
Pattinson will be the axis around which Good Time’s mania swirls and should further cement his reputation as an actor drawn to unconventional projects. Sure to be marked by the Safdie brothers’ hypnotic, expressionistic aesthetic style, Good Time will be one of the most exciting American films to premiere at Cannes later in May.

An unrecognizable Robert Pattinson in the role of Constantine “Connie” Nikas appears in the first trailer of Good Time , drama thriller directed by Josh and Benny Safdie in competition at the Cannes Film Festival .
From what we see in this first video we can expect an interesting interpretation by the former star of Twilight , the protagonist of a race against time while wandering in the underworld to save his brother went to prison after a robbery.

In the first trailer for “Good Time” one has to look twice to see Robert Pattinson ! The actor shows himself in his latest film with beard and longer hair and presents a look, which his fans have not yet seen.
Pattinson has really carved out a fascinating career post-Twilight … Instead of seizing upon his superstardom and tackling a superhero movie or leading action franchises, he’s opted to work with interesting auteur filmmakers on challenging, often niche films. Just this year he’s coming off of James Gray’s heralded The Lost City of Z, and now we’ve got Good Time to look forward to.
Pattinson disappears not just under a mop of bleached blonde hair and a goatee, but under a believable Queens, New York, accent, too. Playing Constantine Nikas, a small-time bank robber who’ll do anything to get his brother out of Rikers Island after he’s arrested, it’s hard to believe this is the same actor who donned fangs as vampire Edward Cullen. It’s yet another example of how far the actor is willing to stretch himself post-Twilight.
One of my most anticipated films of the summer is Josh and Benny Safdie’s Good Time, … It’s a heartbreaker of a trailer scored to an original song by OneOhTrix Point Never and Iggy Pop.

This looks like it has an exceptional performance from Pattinson, so at least there’s that to look out for in here.
Over the last five years, Robert Pattinson has been doing some great projects … Pattinson has been delivering quality performances in some high-quality movies. He has continued to show more and more range lately. Hopefully, we’ll say the same of his work in Josh and Benny Safdie‘s Good Time
[Pattinson] new role as Connie Nikas in Good Time looks set to show the world he is more than just a pretty face as he dons the hobo look with a goatee and a messy mop of blonde hair.
Following his role in Lost City of Z, there plenty of anticipation for Pattinson’s performance. The film is being called a career defining moment for Pattinson, as well as for the Safdie Brothers
Fresh off the success of last month’s The Lost City of Z, where Pattinson gave an exceptional performance alongside Charlie Hunnam and Tom Holland, Good Time appears to showcase yet another career-defining role from the actor who was once perhaps best known for playing the pale-faced, handsome vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight saga. Calling Pattinson’s most recent work impressive seems like it would be an understatement.
It’s nice to see Pattinson out and about and in what looks like a pretty challenging role for him, and his last performance of a similar ilk, his fade-into-the-scenery supporting bit in Lost City of Z was excellent.
Pattinson is becoming known for his versatile performances in gritty films.
“… a strong contender for the festival’s acting prize”. Just imagine.
Oh, and thank you Monkeys Fighting Robots. For saying it. Welcome to the party.
So, so happy for Rob.
Erik Kohn from Indiewire said it too!
The question is both if Rob deserves any particular acolade plus is the Establishment ready to acknowledge Rob’s talent?
I hope all the stars aline.
