Robert Pattinson in “The Lost City of Z”
France 3 interviewed James Gray and Charlie Hunnam – they are dubbed but you can hear or get the gist of what they are responding. Â For those who don’t want any spoilers – don’t watch the footage.
It ‘s a true story that inspired the American director James Gray (“The Yards”, “Two Lovers”) for a project he had been carrying for a long time and which was realized in particularly difficult conditions because of the ” Hostile environment in which the film was shot.
A Dantesque shoot
In 1905, Percy Fawcett, a British colonel, was sent to the Amazon for a mapping mission on the border between Brazil and Bolivia in the depths of the jungle. He discovered traces of what he believed to be a lost city that he named “Z” and sought until his disappearance in 1925. James Gray drew from this story an odyssey recalling a masterpiece Of the history of the cinema, “Apocalypse Now”, which had also experienced a filming thwarted by a series of natural and technical disasters.
