Another cast member added to the film – excites. Thanks to Deadline:
EXCLUSIVE: From the American Revolution to the jungles of the early 20th century, the adaptation of David Grann’s bestseller has another explorer. Angus Macfadyen has joined the cast of The Lost City Of Z. Best known for his role as Robert The Bruce in Braveheart and currently playing Major Robert Rogers on AMC’s Turn, Macfadyen will play James Murray in the James Grey helmed film.
The real-life explorer Murray went into the jungles of South America with Percy Fawcett, who is played in the movie by Charlie Hunnam. Unfortunately their time together in the second decade of the last century was not fruitful – Murray financed their 1911 expedition and was expecting to get his own way. Hoarding extra rations and other points of privilege by Murray soon saw the two at serious odds. A clash that also resulted in legal action at one point until the well-known biologist was persuaded otherwise.
Set for a 2016 release, Lost City Of Z brought Macfadyen on board last week, I’ve learned. The actor was almost immediately flown out to the in-production pic to start work on his starring role. Sienna Miller and Robert Pattinson are also in Lost City Of Z, as is the soon-to-be Spider-Man Tom Holland. Plan B Entertainment’s Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner are producing the pic with Dale Johnson and Anthony Katagas. Marc Butan is EPing along with MICA Entertainment’s Julie B. May and Glenn Murray.
Turn will be back for a third season next year on AMC.
Macfadyen is repped by Kramer Management and Innovative Artists.
Z seems to be like a ball of Blu-Tack – picking up actors from everywhere at the last minute.
Ooooh Angus Macfadyen!! I know he’s been in loads but he’ll always be Robert the Bruce to me. Omg he’s going to be brilliant as Murray…. Not long finished reading about that expedition in the book. Oh dear….can’t wait!!!! 🙂
