So Rob may not be attending Cannes, as far as we know, but some of his films are being marketed there this year. As I mentioned the other day, The Childhood of a Leader has “Promo Screening Pending” as it’s Cannes status on Cinando. What this means is that they are proposing to screen a promotional reel (not entire film obviously) to buyers at the market. I’m guessing since it still says “pending” they are working hard to finish whatever it is they want to show. I’ll keep you posted if and when it changes. Nothing is listed under the “Markets” tab of Protagonist yet, although they have a Cannes office listed on their Cinando page
Update:Â 23/04/2015
Remember I said above that Protagonist still didn’t have anything listed under “Markets” tab for Cannes. Well that’s changed now. I hope we get news of distributors signing up. Look at that “Protagonist Promo Reel – Exclusive Footage”.
And I tweeted the other day that “Lionsgate is sitting down with international buyers at this year’s Cannes Film Festival to hash out a deal for [The Trap] with foreign buyers.”  This morning I see on Cinando that it is listed as Cannes “lineup debut”, which really just confirms the previous statement. What this means is that the title is being introduced to the market for the first time and obviously looking for distributors. And like Protagonist, Lionsgate has a Cannes office set up
The Lost City of Z in it’s previous connotation with Benedict debuted at the Cannes markets last year. Seeing as it’s hopefully filming in August, I’m not sure if it will make any appearance at the markets in 2015, but Sierra Affinity is definitely there.
Same goes for Brimstone, it’s not listed for any lineups yet, but Gusto Entertainment will be at Cannes and as some of you will recall, I posted the other day that Gusto is involved with PR for the film. Of course Embankment Films will also be there.
I’ll update this post if anything changes for any of Rob’s films.
Thanks for the update Maria. ðŸ‘ðŸ»ðŸ‘ðŸ»
We were so lucky to see Rob in Cannes last year for two of his films. I guess we can let him off this year, but he just HAS to be back in 2016! It’s a new law. I just made it up.
I like your new law Trish can we add an addendum – must come to Australia every year.
