So there’s been a little drama in the fandom this week, well there’s drama in Rob’s fandom every week, but we’re only concerned with his career so I won’t focus on the cringeworthy drama that’s usual although it does make me weep for humanity.  Idol’s Eye had the plug pulled and I will continue to say “for now” because it’s De Niro, Pattinson and Weisz c’mon someone is talking dollars about getting that back on board.

But yesterday’s drama hinged on the announcement that Benecio Del Toro and Jamie Foxx had been cast in Harmony Korine’s next movie.  Funny I have heard Rob talk about Harmony writing a script for him and he did seem to make reference to a gangster film in interviews, but I’ve not ever seen any “exclusives” that he’s signed on officially for that film.  And to be honest after Idol’s Eye this week surely people have learned that patience is a virtue and even when we think Rob’s going to be on set until he’s ACTUALLY on set anything can happen.  So it should be no surprise to anyone that tonight when I checked his IMDbPro page Harmony’s project is no longer listed under “in development”.  Although it is listed on IMDbPro under Harmony with yep you guessed it Benecio and Jamie.  And before anyone jumps down my throat about what I’m posting, I’m not saying it’s not happening or that IMDbPro is 100% correct.  I’m also not pretending to be Variety, I’m a freaking blog that talks about my favourite actor and I’m just posting this because we had a previous post a few weeks ago saying it was listed.   Rob’s career is worth celebrating – RPAU will continue to do that for as long as Rob gives us reason to.  Onwards and upwards … there’s a few more films just around the corner.

Thanks for helping to put things into perspective Maria. I must admit I felt really down about the news but you are right, there is a lot to celebrate when it comes to our favourite actor’s career. Without question I will always support Robert Pattinson.

Most likely this means he won’t be doing it. Sadly

Thanks @Silvie. I’m still crushed over Unbound Captives – Rob on horse back, shirtless *sigh*. But for every disappointment we’ve endured there’s been a high too like Cosmopolis and The Rover. We still have QoTD and Life. We haven’t seen Maps on big screen yet and although I know there are a lot of us that won’t experience it, the DVD will be available in March so we still have another film to add to our collection. And who knows what’s around the corner. I’ve been saying to the girls for weeks that I feel something big is around the corner … I can feel it in my bones. For all we know this little setback could be the opening of another door *lookstoTarantinoandprays*

Exactly what I have said. Rob has a lot of work. If this didn’t work out for whatever reason there are other projects. It’s all good.

Could not agree more Maria with EVERYTHING that you have said – spot on *applause*

We are so lucky to be fans of this amazing, beautiful & talented man. He gives us so much through his work & I know how much all of us here at RPAU respect & treasure him. Rob’s career as Maria said is worth celebrating & celebrating just that is what we do here at RPAU. Always have done, always will do. I cannot wait for all the wonderful things he has in store. Thanks for the update Maria, fantastic post 🙂

Praying with you Maria. You seem to be pretty spot on when you say that you feel something big coming. It just has to. I know what you mean about Unbound Captives, I was waiting for that movie so much, I still expect to see it as a possible movie even though I know it won’t happen. Well Maps November 20th, not too long to go now. So sorry to all who will not be able to see it on the big screen, it really isn’t fair.

Hey, I’m just glad to see Rob in ANYTHING. I just want him to keep working in the film industry (in front of the camera!) so we can go and see him. I trust his judgement in terms of choosing projects, and if it leans to the less commercial, great, and if to the more commercial, good too. Like I said, Rob in any film has my bum on a seat watching it. Maria, you can say whatever the hell you like and damn everyone else. If anyone has issues with what you post on YOUR site, tell them to go *%#@ themselves sideways! I have a policy that if RPAU says so, (because you girls do your homework) then it must be true. Thanks so much for keeping us in the loop.

Bravo bravo * stands up and applauds this post* thanks so much to you for being the voice of reason Maria, again!! I tell you, rpau is my safe haven and my Rob bubble…. I’ll never understand what people get from creating drama. This man is incredibly talented and such a beautiful soul inside and out….he should be celebrated, he’s given so much to us his fans through his career. It’s ALL good. I’m here to celebrate him with you girls. Michelle and Maria said it much better than I can 😘

Things happen for a reason…. I’m happy to wait and see where this adventure continues to take us all.

Thank you for the update, Maria, as it is appreciated! No one should ever jump down your throat for anything you post. That’s just asinine if they do.

I’m heartbroken about this news and Unbound Captive not going forward. BUT things change and it could still be a go in the future. Then again, maybe something bigger and better will come along. There’s usually a very good reason why things happen the way they do and it mostly works out for the best. Keeping my fingers crossed.

With following Rob, and through RPAU, I am learning more about the industry of movie making. To me, Rob still seems to have pretty good odds to his projects get up. Naturally, IE not moving forward is a blow, but this is the business. It isn’t personnel. It isn’t a slight on Rob or any of the other legendary actors that were attached to it.
Lets live in the moment. Rob is getting a bonus break, which I bet he could use (2 weeks to beardy Rob 🙂 ) We have a few Rob movies in the can we haven’t seen/owned yet with 3 more amazing projects still in the pipeline. That an’t half bad at all.

Well said! Such is the nature of the industry, unfortunately. I’m especially disappointed in ‘Idol’s Eye’ being cancelled, as I was so looking forward to seeing Rob and DeNiro onscreen together. Still holding out hope it will come together down the road.

@Suze I’m absolutely gutted. I’ve dreamed of Rob and DeNiro in a movie together. I don’t think there is anyone else I want to see him with as much. Fingers crossed although I have a suspicion it might go down the same road as M:B. Scheduling conflicts, possible new director *shrugs*. What will be will be.

@Maria, thanks for that update on the Harmony Korine project. Here on RPA, you and the girl’s always wade through the rubbish and get to the nitty gritty of what is really going on I think we will wait and see what transpires. We are all rather sad because of the Idol’s Eye cancellation it sounded like a great project, but this happens in the movie making business. But all is not lost we have some really good movies coming out in 2015 it will be a Rob Smorgasbord of Delights, now that is something to look forward to. xxxx
