This is a really brilliant interview with David, all of it, and he says some wonderful things about Rob too….Rob chat starts at 12.50 but we recommend the whole interview (which starts at about 9.00)

This again highlights how the film industry needs more directors like David Michod. Directors who create films from scratch, who tell their stories the way they want them told, who are artists, rather than the event coordinators helming many of today’s commercial films. Jules, this was a gem – thanks for posting.
Oh Trish how fantastic is this interview and now you know why we were so drawn to David and started the blogsite for him. I loved “no I’m not going because I’m an adult” re the Avengers. I must admit the last “blockbuster” I saw were the Twi films just because of Rob. I’ve not seen Avatar, The Hunger Games, insert any of the Marvel/Comic book movies. They just don’t interest me. Special effects don’t draw me in – storytelling is what draws me in. Although I have to admit I saw Corbijn’s “A Most Wanted Man” yesterday and for me personally The Rover outdid that film in every aspect.
wonderful interview with David he is a genius a rare talent in a world that is full of plastic people who in Hollywood, see only the $$$$$ big budget yawn dribble. I am over the moon that we in Coffs Harbour at last had “The Rover” showing for a limited time, I saw it last week, OH MY!! It grabbed me from the beginning and didn’t let go for hours after , Rob was superb, he blew me away, he became Rey, he broke our hearts, you wanted to tell him everything will be fine. Guy was fabulous and dangerous as Eric,he didn’t need to yell, his menacing look the anger in his eyes, spoke volumns. I need to see it again and then wait for the dvd to be released.
Bravo!Bravo! David Michod, a masterpiece. Rob is such a talent he is brave and daring, my favourite Rob movie
“Cosmopolis” is now sharing with “The Rover” Guy is one of the best actors in the world, I hope he and Rob get to work together again soon.
“….wonderfully awkward and twitchy and loose.” I’ve loved hearing all of David’s refreshingly honest and heartfelt impressions of Rob, throughout this promo. And you’re right @Maria, it’s very easy to see why David has gathered his own personal fan base along the way ~ he’s got a genuine warmth about him, very down-to-earth, passionate, no bullshit, take-it-or-leave-it attitude. I really need to spend more time over at MK. If someone could just throw me a few hours in their day that they don’t need …….
Loved this interview, thanks Jules.
Fantastic to hear that @Barbara. Told you it was worth the wait. I really loved Rob’s performance. Sometimes I wonder if he gave us his best work because he was so isolated out in the desert and he didn’t worry about set stalkers/papz or whoever watching him work. Of course David is such a fantastic director that I don’t doubt he brought out that performance from Rob as well. I hope all 3 work together again. I do know that David has written another script with Joel that he wants to make. Fingers crossed he does a repeat performance with either Guy or Rob *prettypleasesquisheseyesclosedtight*
Go David!. it is no coincidence that Rob has connected with talented and honest people like him. Seriously, what a breathe of fresh air David is. Even in this limited setting David paints a story with every sentence uttered. We hear his delight in Rob’s quirks and his despair with the movie making machines/audiences/critics. Great interview.
*waves* Barbara! Isn’t The Rover amazing! I loved the excitement in your review.
