Ooooh nothing more exciting than casting news.

From The Playlist:

For his post-“Twilight” career, Robert Pattinson has been quickly racing to establish himself as an actor instead of a heartthrob, using his cachet join a variety of projects with auteurs at the helm. He’s got two David Cronenberg movies under his belt, another with David Michod, and more coming from Werner Herzog and Anton Corbijn. And that’s not to mention a possible project with Harmony Korine, and if all goes according to plan, he’ll kick off 2015 working with James Gray on “The Lost City Of Z.” And that’s not all.

With his “Clouds Of Sils Maria” getting set to unspool at the Cannes Film Festival, director Olivier Assayas has revealed he’s caught the RPatz fever. “I see that in the United States, especially since the success of ‘l’Heure d’été’ and ‘Carlos,’ I gained a relative notoriety, which sharpens the curiosity of some actors. My next film, for example, will include Robert Pattinson,” he told Les InRocks (translation via Robsessed).

So what will the film be? No idea. And that’s about all the news there is on it. But it should be noted that last year, the director did line up a U.S. project, titled “Hubris,” that would be in English and feature an American cast. It’s based on a 2007 Playboy article called “Boosting The Big Tuna” by Hillel Levin and follows a group of small-time thieves who rob a man who turns out to be Chicago mafia boss Tony Accardo. Could this be that gig? Guess we’ll have to be patient and wait to find out. But it looks like Pattinson continues to attract some very interesting collaborators.

And from The Film Stage:

…while speaking to French newspaper Les Inrocks (via Robsessed and ThePlaylist), Assayas revealed that his following effort will be led by Robert Pattinson. This big catch results from, in the wake of his recent features, what the man himself calls “a relative notoriety, which sharpens the curiosity of some actors,” but that might not be all: it’s also less than two years after the actor attended a dinner party alongside the Sils Maria helmer and Abbas Kiarostami. (To say nothing of his friend, Johnny Flynn, becoming a regular Assayas collaborator.) If only that other auteur were to soon take interest…

It seems possible that Pattinson will headline Hubris, which we’d heard word of about a year back. Described as “an action-packed crime thriller set against the backdrop of organized crime in Chicago in the 1970s,” it, more specifically, is to document the trouble Chicago thief John Mendell found himself in after accidentally robbing the notorious Tony Accardo. The title was, as of that announcment, meant to begin shooting in mid-2014; if those plans have actually held up, we ought to hear plenty more in a short amount of time. Maybe once The Rover releases in a month.

Hubris is currently listed as ‘Script’ on IMDbPro. Cannot wait to hear more news!
