As we know Rob visited a children’s hospital last week & now the hospital, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles have shared some beautiful pics of Rob’s visit & also a special message from Rob to patients & families. How beautiful are these photos, as Maria said last weekend, it is a great day to be a fan of this man. Â Beautiful man with a heart of gold he is. Â Those gorgeous children would have been so unbelievably excited, makes me so so happy to see them smile – such a beautiful thing.
The accompanying article:
On Friday, Aug. 16, Robert Pattinson, actor and star of mega-hit movies “The Twilight Saga†and “Water for Elephants†dropped by Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to spread cheer and visit with patients.
Teens from across the hospital—including the Acute Rehabilitation Center, the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases and The Heart Institute—gathered in the hospital’s Teen Lounge for a surprise guest. When Pattinson arrived, one young girl giggled and cried in awe. But the down-to-earth actor quickly settled the room and jumped into arts and crafts, decorating picture frames alongside patients. Pattinson laughed at his own creation—a pink frame with hearts sketched in—and tried unsuccessfully to convince the room of his “terrible†artistic skills.
The star graciously posed for endless photographs and signed every patient’s picture frame before heading off to visit two cystic fibrosis patients and huge Twilight fans who were unable to leave their rooms.
“We couldn’t help laughing and smiling when one of the patients was so starstruck she that couldn’t speak. You could tell it meant the world to her—she was tearing up and smiling ear to ear as we were leaving,†said Lyndsay Hutchison, senior public information officer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. “The other little girl teased him relentlessly and begged him to do an American accent. They were instant friends.â€
“Robert was so nervous about meeting the kids—he didn’t want to let them down—which is a testament to how humble he is. He was incredibly gracious and kind. He will probably never fully understand what a huge lift he gave to these kids today, and how it will positively impact them over the long term,†shared Child Life specialist, Ana Vega.
Pattinson was able to visit the hospital because an upcoming movie, “Maps to the Stars,†which Pattinson is currently filming in Los Angeles will feature a short scene (not featuring Pattinson) in front of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Keep an eye out for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles when the film hits theaters!
I know exactly what a huge lift Rob gave these kids today.
I’ve been involved with raising money with the Children’s Hospital Foundation in Sydney for over 12 years – do you KNOW how much something like these means to them. The hospital, the patients, the parents … everyone benefits from these types of visits. I’ve seen it first hand, I’ve also seen what raising money does for them to either buy equipment, pay the salary of a trainee doctor or researcher.
Honestly I can’t love him any more, but this is a selfless thing to do and it’s not for publicity. He doesn’t NEED any more publicity – he IS Robert Pattinson.
Bless his heart.
Rob has the biggest heart to visit the children at the hospital to offer support and cheer! He did this without publicity.

The nicest part for me is to see him so genuinely enjoying himself with the patients ~ how special for them all, and no doubt for him too. Having him do arts & crafts with them ~ wow, what a terrific idea. Can just imagine him laughing at his own creation every step of the way. Such a treasured memory for them all, I’m sure.
What a wonderful way to wake up on a Saturday morning. Agree @Maria, re everything you said. You’re a good man, Rob. And we love you to bits.
That is exactly right Maria, not for publicity, he doesn’t need it. Doing it because he wants to, a truly beautiful human being. I cannot stop looking at these gorgeous pics, the smiles on the children’s faces, the smile on Rob’s face – they are just the sweetest, What a selfless thing to do, my love & respect for this man is already at the highest possible level but these beautiful moments makes it soar even higher.
You would have seen so many amazing moments Maria during those 12 years, so many lives brightened & benefited. Such beautiful work that you help do. Seeing a sick child smile, their day brightened I think is the most wonderful thing in the world.
Me too Sue, the look of enjoyment on his face is so beautiful. What special moments for all those gorgeous children. Absolute best thing to wake up to this morning.
Like Sue said, the genuine delight Rob is obviously experiencing alongside the children he is playing with comes from creating a real connection with these kids. He is giving them not just a famous movie star, he is sharing himself. We know Rob doesn’t let down his walls for anybody.
The endurance and strength needed for the kids and their families, or anyone dealing with long term medical issues, in these situations are mind boggling. Thank God for the carers, the fundraisers, like you, Maria and anyone who gives up their time for others.
Omg loving all your comments :’) couldn’t agree with you all more, look at the enjoyment on his face and the children….what an absolutely priceless time for them all. Absolutely re not needing publicity….he is a beautiful soul, end of. 🙂
Thanks for sharing your experiences too Maria, how amazing 🙂
Nods to all you have said ladies and i know to like most parents how kind caring everyone who works at a kids hospital is.
Agree 100% with all that’s been said here. What a wonderful thing for all involved. Rob has a big beautiful heart. We, his fans have always known it and now the rest of the world is catching up. He is the real deal.
Just when you think you couldn’t love him anymore. He is a beautiful soul inside and out.
I’m wondering if Rob’s cap is like Bono’s glasses. Could it be he thinks of it as barrier that he can control to separate the personnel from ‘The Job’ ? Am I reading too much into him not wearing his useless disguise here?
Just more proof how humble, gracious & down to earth he is. It wasn’t about publicity unlike other celebs. Imagine the thoughts running through those kids heads. Just incredible. The fact that his visit would give those kids a new lift in fighting their illness’ and he was so worried about them liking them just shows how amazing he is. This is one of my favourite accounts and thing he has done. Thanks for this. Truly brought a smile to my face and heart.
ps. Can just imagine his self deprecating of his art lol
@Sare agree and I bet he’s donated it to them to auction off at one of their fundraisers.
*swallows lump in throat* How beautiful is this gesture? Can’t possibly love him more, but I do. Karma, this man deserves everything special in life – make sure he gets it. Maria, your generosity knows no bounds – not only do you co-run and contribute EVERY SINGLE DAY to this site for the pure joy of making others happy, you donate your time to a worthy cause like the CHF. You. Are. Awesome. Enough said. (Michelle, that goes for you too, and also for the very talented Jules. You girls ROCK!)
What a wonderful gesture on Rob’s part. He’s such a good-hearted person. Looking at the photos, it’s clear that the kids made his day as much as he made their day. You can’t help but smile. 🙂
