    Hello @Jules!
I have questions of course but first lets say that this is all VERY exciting!
Do they have to be selected to screen at these film festivals, or is it an open invitation?
And, what does out of competition mean?

    How excitement

@liz usually they are selected but mainly if they are up for awards at the respective festival.

Out of competition means that it won’t be up for any of the festivals awards like a Golden Bear.

Sometimes films just have their world premieres at film festivals like Inglorious Basterds did at Cannes in 2009.

I’m sure there will be clearer explanations on the BFF site – if you click on the first link Jules has provided and go to home there is a section on awards.

I think also if you search our earlier posts @larry411 had an explanation of how BA might make it into the BFF 🙂
