I found this on YouTube today (still looking for better quality Le Grand Journal or translation at least).  It’s only short and if I find better quality I will upload – unfortunately ET Canada doesn’t allow anyone outside of Canada to view vids on their site (boo hoo Canada).   It’s a little bit more of what we saw on Sunrise.  That full inteview has to be somewhere.  Thanks to YouTube user haywaite for letting us hear Rob’s voice without the infernal translators.

I’m not a fan of the gossip sites, but socialitelife ran the following article saying Rob needed solace after being mobbed by fans (the article’s not the attraction, but the exceptional photos of Rob at the beach are):

“The busy British actor stopped by Cannes to talk up the sequel and catch a movie or two. Pattinson said he’s still getting used to the fact that people know him wherever he goes.

“It is still strange,” Pattinson said Tuesday. “I just don’t get the immediate-recognition thing. I was at the Frankfurt airport yesterday, and people just immediately know who you are. It’s never, ‘Are you …?’ It’s just like, ‘Can I have a photo?'”

While at Cannes, Pattinson said he planned to see Quentin Tarantino‘s Inglourious Basterds, which is in the festival’s main competition.

He said he has four days of shooting left in Italy next week on New Moon, the sequel based on Stephenie Meyers‘ best-sellers about a high school girl (Kristen Stewart) who falls for Pattinson’s immortally young vampire.

As for fans disrupting the film’s shoots so far. According to Rob it really hasn’t been a problem. “They had tons of security, but then at the end of the day actually, hardly anyone knew where we were shooting,” Pattinson said. “I’m walking around with, like, three guys following me around all the time, and no one ever turned up.  There was never any infiltrators.””

Ok – so it was very early this morning when I was getting excited about the tux and forgot that the premiere of Inglorious Basterds is tonight.  As for needing solace from fans – personally I think he just needed some space from his security – the guy just can’t seem to keep his hands off Rob (see last photo for evidence of that!).   Hmmm, wonder whether I have enough time to train to be security for Cannes 2010.

For those lucky enough to be at home this morning at 8.52 am and watching the Sunrise program on Channel 7 – then you were in for a treat during the segment Nuala’s E-File.  Yep she has confessed to being a Twilight fan (although for a journo she seriously needs to do more research – “he’s just finished filming 4 days in Italy” – c’mon Nuala a quick search on the net would have given you the answer to that – hmmm maybe I should send her the link to our site).  She starts talking Rob at about 2.22 and then they show a great little snippet of an interview Rob obviously did yesterday on the beach (at about 3.03 if you don’t want to listen to Nuala).  I love his comments about how many pictures can you take of the same thing “yep still sitting” – lol – Rob after last night I can tell you – so far about 156 and counting and that’s just for Majestic Pier.

I can’t embed the vid – so you need to go here to watch.  Thanks to our contributor Erika for the tip.

Wow, Rob is getting really busy. Way to go, Rob – for using the opportunity Twilight has given you, to try different roles and make the most out of it. I am starting to respect your management a lot more.

Anyway, here is what Variety has to say about Rob in his next role in ‘Bel Ami’:

“Twilight” star Rob Pattinson, in Cannes to promote “Remember Me,” skedded for a Feb. 12 domestic release, will star in an adaptation of Guy de Maupassant’s short story “Bel Ami.”

Uberto Pasolini is producing through his shingle Redwave Films. Pic is skedded to shoot in Paris next year with London legit director Declan Donnellan set to make his film debut. “It’s a totally amoral character,” Pattinson said, explaining that it’s a quite different role for him.

If you’re interested to hear more about Rob’s role in ‘Remember Me’ you HAVE TO read this interview from Risky Biz. Here, he talked ‘in-depth’ about his role in the movie, meeting with Jenny Lumet (the screenwriter) and why he chose to be involved in the project. He also talked about this role in ‘Unbound Captives’ and what it’d be like to play a Comanche. Oh, and of course – he also confirmed that ‘Breaking Dawn’ is going to be made into a movie (hmm…I’m not commenting to that).

Here’s a snippet of the interview:

HR: How did “Remember Me” come about?

Pattinson: I read the script last summer and then met with (director) Allen Coulter and really liked it. It’s quite a simple story but there was something about the character and way he spoke that was very similar to the way I speak. There is a naturalism to the writing and I really felt a connection to it.

THR: What’s the script about?

Pattinson: I read somewhere it was being described as the modern day “Love Story.” It isn’t anything like “Love Story.” It (“Remember Me”) is really hard to describe. It about a 23-year-old guy and knowing someone for six weeks. You don’t just fall in love and say, I’m in love, after six weeks. It’s really a relationship story. It’s very natural and the characters are incredibly real and well scripted. It’s one of the few scripts I’ve read where you finish and realize you didn’t really want it to end. I have no qualms in saying that (writer) Jenny (Lumet) is a genius.

In this video, Rob is being yelled at by annoying papparazis to go to the ‘middle’ (or centre). Do they really have to yell? I am so amazed at how patient the actors must be, I wouldn’t be able to smile at all if I were in his situation.
