Another day another film festival for Robert Pattinson, “The Childhood of a Leader”.  The film will compete at the International Film Festival “Zerkalo” (“The Mirror”) which will be held from 14 to 19 June in the cities of Ivanovo, Plyos and Yuryevets.  From the official website:

“”The first festival” Zerkalo “is separated from the current ten years – which means that managed to form a new generation of filmmakers, wholly owned by the 21 th century, – says program director of the festival” Zerkalo “Andrew Plakhov. – They – the authors of its second decade, the 2010s. But no matter how it modified, mutated and no copyright work, it keeps its two fundamental qualities – uniqueness of personal peace and connection with the dramatic reality of our days. ”

The competition program of the anniversary of the festival traditionally presents movies in a wide geo-cultural, genre and stylistic range: from Colombia to Kyrgyzstan, from Latvia to the UK, from the parable to the chronicles of the imitation of old movies to technologically equipped modern animation. …

The first festival “Zerkalo” is separated from the current ten years. This means that managed to form a new generation of filmmakers, wholly owned by the 21 th century. They – the authors of its second decade, the 2010s.

Predictions about the decline of auteur cinema, about the total triumph of mass spectacles were not justified. And new technologies are not just mass culture, but also those who are experimenting, developing the language of cinema. Those who did not want to put up with popular at the end of the 20th century post-modern doctrine of the end of history, essentially putting a point on the development of art.

Festival “Zerkalo” every year represents a spectrum of products, bearing the indelible stamp of authorship. Authors teens are not always identified with their characters, but their existential experience presented as a possible benchmark for the thinking viewer.Program curator Andrew Plakhov

Robert Pattinson “The Childhood of a Leader” will have it’s Swiss premiere and compete in the “Cutting Edge” section of Bildrausch Film Festival (“Image Noise Film Festival Basel) on 26 May 2016.  According to the film festival’s website:

“In the heart of Basel an intimate international film festival has become in a few years established itself with space for discoveries, with poetry and voluptuous imagery, with courage for controversial and radical and especially with a lot of meeting and discussion space: image noise – Filmfest Basel. Around the Stadtkino Basel at Theater Square each end of May blur here the boundaries between arthouse cinema and art – between filmmakers and audience.

Since its first edition, 2011, image noise is completely devoted to innovative auteur film. When “Festival of Festivals” it brings film discoveries to Basel, which provide the major international festivals because of their idiosyncratic cinematic language and uncompromising narration furore. Curiosity and openness thereby determine the selection. The focus is the cinematic quality, the pleasure of the visual, the art to tell stories in a new way or to consider burning issues from unusual perspectives. Or in short: film as an art form.

“Heart of image noise is the international competition “Cutting Edge” carefully with about a dozen selected works. An international jury will award the best picture noise film with a prize money of CHF 3000 and presents the image noise Ring of cinematography to its creator or creator. …”
