Oh how I LOVE hearing news about this film.  Thanks to the Official Cosmopolis Website, we can now confirm that Samantha Morton will be playing Vija Kinski (Eric’s ‘chief of theory’) & Sarah Gadon is going to be playing Eric’s wife, Elise Shiffrin – yep this casting is most definitely official this time!  Here is what they say: (click on the pic to read in full size)

Samantha & Sarah, you are two lucky lucky ladies.  We of course already knew that Samantha had signed onto the film as Rob told us via his MTV First Interview, but at that stage, Rob wasn’t allowed to reveal who would be playing his wife in the film.  24 May is not too far away now – so excited about this film – so so excited!

Jules when you said you were going to use a manip and I might not want to post – you didn’t say you were using one of my ultimate fave pics of Rob from Vogue.  No seriously how can I NOT share this beauty with you all – I need to go home and change my desktop STAT.  Brilliant just brilliant.

Exciting news, Cosmopolis now has an official website woo hooo.  There is nothing really new on there at the moment, but great to see a website is already up & running. The site however does confirm Juliette Binoche as Didi Fancher, Paul Giamatti as Benno Levin & Mathieu Amalric as Andre Petrescu (aka the pastry assassin) in the cast list. I LOVE the pic they’ve used for Rob on the front page of the site.  Great to see they’ve chosen a non Twilight related one – smart choice.   Also happens to be one of my ultimate faves. For those who aren’t aware, the pic is from the Dukes Of Hazzard Premiere back in 2005. So looking forward to this movie.  CANNOT wait for Rob to start filming.  To visit the site, just click on the pic above.

Okay the post title is not verbatim, but DJ Pangburn from Death+Taxes Mag had this to say about Rob and Cosmopolis (Note: *spoilers after the cut*).  I just love me favourable articles:

Don DeLillo’s “Cosmopolis” is a vintage, icy satire.  It might share the NYC setting and financial playground staked out by Oliver Stone in “Wall Street,” but whereas Charlie Sheen stands at his balcony and asks, “Who am I,” Eric Packer looks at his skyscraper penthouse from the street below and remembers, “I want a haircut.”

And so begins Packer’s Ulyssian odyssey through Manhattan as a 28 year old billionaire hedge fund manager, who’s made his money in tech stocks, and has an almost abstract-nihilistic approach to life and business.

According to ClapFilms, Juliette will play Didi Fancher.  Well I knew she was too old to play Eric’s wife, Elise, even though there were some rumours around saying Cronenberg might change Elise’s age to be older.  Still no news on who will play Elise though.  We already knew that Paul was playing Levin.

Thanks to Roberta for the tip.  Oh and if you want to discuss Cosmopolis, please head over to our discussion post here *Warning this thread contains spoilers*

So as I mentioned yesterday, we thought we would do a post that is basically a discussion thread for Cosmopolis.  Your thoughts on the book, which scenes you desperately want to see, maybe what you don’t want to see.  Now I know this book is sometimes slightly graphic so all I’m going to say is – don’t think I won’t moderate because I will.

So for those who don’t want any *spoilers* or who haven’t quite yet finished reading the book, DO NOT CLICK on “more” until you are ready to come in and chat.  Oh and perhaps you might all want to bookmark this post because I don’t want to sticky post it and it will, of course, disappear down the page with post updates (I’ve added a new category called Discussion Thread that you can also find under categories in the sidebar search bar.)

3, 2, 1 ….
