@A24 Buys North American Rights to Robert Pattinson | Claire Denis #TheStarsatNoon
Possibly filming at the end of this year and co-star news – that’s what I’m taking from this.
From Deadline:
In a low-seven-figure deal, the blue-chip buyer has swooped on Claire Denis’ next movie, love story/thriller The Stars at Noon, which has her High-Life collaborator Robert Pattinson and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood breakout Margaret Qualley attached.
…
Wild Bunch is launching international sales on the project at the EFM, and buyers are already hot for the package. Paris-based Curiosa Films is producing with an eye on shooting later this year. CAA Media Finance brokered domestic, which will include a solid theatrical commitment. [My emphasis]
Claire Denis talks about her upcoming film and Robert Pattinson with Interview Magazine
Claire was recently interviewed by Interview Magazine where she talked about Rob. Below is an extract re The Stars at Noon:
HUSEBY: You’re going to be working with [Pattinson] again soon in an adaptation of a Denis Johnson novel.
DENIS: I wish. I have a project, but I’m not American, so I cannot say what will happen. I have to wait for a gap in his schedule and for money to come. You know this is true! There is a song in French that reminds me of this situation. It goes: “Je suis le mendiant de l’amour.†It means, “I am the beggar for love.†This is me, but I am also a piece of shit.

Robert Pattinson and Claire Denis will collaborate again on The Stars at Noon
Jake Mulligan attended Claire Denis’ post #HighLife Q&A today at the Brattle Theater (thanks to IFF Boston) and shared the following about what projects Claire’s currently working on:
Rob and Claire working together again. Of course I jumped onto Book Depository and ordered a copy because the synopsis was intriguing:
Set in Nicaragua in 1984, The Stars at Noon is a story of passion, fear, and betrayal told in the voice of an American woman whose mission in Central America is as shadowy as her surroundings. Is she a reporter for an American magazine as she sometimes claims, or a contact person for Eyes of Peace? And who is the rough English businessman with whom she becomes involved? As the two foreigners become entangled in increasingly sinister plots, Denis Johnson masterfully dramatizes a powerful vision of spiritual bereavement and corruption.Â
