Our wonderful affiliate Spunk Ransom has received confirmation that Rob will be attending the Cannes Film Festival in France:
‘My assistant Elizabeth has been able to confirm that Rob will be attending the Cannes Film Festival. We were not able to confirm if he is attending with Allen Coulter, director of “Remember Meâ€, however, mark your calendars for the Cannes Film Festival!’
The festival is being held between May 13 (a very special day – Rob’s birthday) & May 24. At this stage, the date that Rob will be in attendance is not known.
This is such great news & so exciting for Rob. Cannot wait to hear more about this.
We thought it would be a fun idea if we introduced a ‘Video of The Week.’ Each week, we will choose one of our favourite Rob videos to share with you all. It is my turn first & I have chosen Rob’s UK Empire video as my favourite.
This interview with Rob would have to be one of my most favourites ever. I love hearing Rob’s answers to the questions & all his smiles & laughter in this video. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I always do.
I have posted the video below & you can also view our ‘Video of the Week’ here in our ‘Videos’ section.
In keeping with the How To Be posts today by Cilla and Michelle, I thought I would provide you with yet another review of the film. This time it’s by Amanda Bell from The Examiner and it is one of the better ones I have read so far (or maybe it’s because I agree with everything she says). For those of you who are yet to see the film, this will be a further tease before your DVD arrives in late May and if you are interested in reading it you can click here, but I warn you it does contain “Spoilers”.Â
And speaking of “Spoilers” as some of you may have already seen or heard there has been a leak of the film on the internet because of yesterday’s IFC on Demand release in the US. Please don’t send us emails asking us to post this link. Cilla has been a staunch supporter of How To Be (and as most of us know, she spent a considerable amount of time and energy, together with Shanna, to bring it to Australian screens). Oliver Irving and Justin Kelly have struggled to find distributors and the film is only now achieving the recognition it deserves.  Posting a link or downloading it means that any profit they deserve to make from the sale of DVDs will greatly diminish. If you desperately want to see “How To Be”, the DVD is being released in the UK on 18 May and can be pre-ordered from Amazon.  Â
Most of us claim we want to see Rob do more indie films in the future. If you are really serious about that then here’s your chance to support them. Please consider this before downloading.
Here’s some further confirmation of Robert’s role in Memoirs/Remember Me (I might have to draft a memoir in order to remember the name of this film by the time 2011 comes around). According to acting411.blogspot.com  the call is out for principal actors and production companies – extras are still TBA. I hear the leading lady role may still be up for grabs (unless you want to believe the rumour that Amanda Abbafried is a shoe in – and we know how great their chemistry was at the Oscars). So if you haven’t had your headshots done – you better get a move on. Thanks to our affiliate ROBsessed and in case you are serious about auditioning – click here, but you may have some stiff competition (hint hint).
*Late Breaking News* – okay while I was searching acting411.blogspot I found that it’s also set up for casting for Eclipse and Breaking Dawn (although dates are TBA). Although no confirmation has been received from Summit about Breaking Dawn (except for the fact that they have acquired the rights) it suggests that the film is likely to be split into two – Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn I and Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn II (like we haven’t heard that before) and will start shooting in late spring / early summer 2010. Might explain why Rob is booked out for the next year – but I’m only speculating. If you want to see for yourself click here. And although leading lady roles for these 3 films have been cast – you can always be an extra!
As official as it can get in Hollywood and Rob – we can hardly contain our excitment either. “Memoirs” is listed on Rob’s IMDb as “pre production” and confirms him in the cast list (actually he’s the only cast at the moment, but are we complaining).    Allen Coulter is the director and Will Fetters and Jenny Lumet ar the writers for the screenplay.  As for the plot – it’s a drama centered on two lovers whose newfound relationship is threatened as they try to cope with their respective family tragedies. So is this the black comedy Rob was talking about in the ET interview – I hope so.  The only down side to this news is that the release date is apparently 2011. Thanks to our affiliate Spunk Ransom for the tip off.
There is a rumour circulating that Summit Entertainment is presenting four new titles to buyers at Cannes this year including a romantic drama starring Rob. I should point out that coincidentally Cannes starts on 13 May (an omen perhaps).  According to Screen Daily:
“Pattinson is starring in Remember Me which is shooting this summer in New York while the actor is between Twilight sequels New Moon, which wraps at the end of May, and Eclipse, which starts in August.
Allen Coulter, the award-winning TV director (The Sopranos, Damages) who made his feature debut with Hollywoodland in 2006, is directing the film and Nick Osborne and Trevor Engelson of Underground Films (License To Wed) are producing.
Summit co-chairman and CEO Patrick Wachsberger wouldn’t go into too much detail on the plot but described the film as this generation’s Love Story. A female lead is in the process of being cast, while Rachel Getting Married writer Jenny Lumet has finished the latest draft of the screenplay.”
Now even Rob is slightly perplexed as you can see – as this is sounding suspiciously like Memoirs, but only the name has been changed – same award winning director, producers and writer.   As I said, at the moment, its a rumour and there’s always the possibility that nothing will eventuate, but as soon as we find confirmation we will let you know. It would be great to see Rob in something in addition to Twilight Saga. Thanks to Everglow.
