Naomi Ackie has been nominated for an EE Rising Star award and in her latest interview with Metro UK mentioned Rob:
Then there’s the mysterious Mickey 17, the teaser for which sent the internet into overdrive upon its release last month.
Directed by Parasite’s Bong Joon-ho, the film is based on Edward Ashton’s dystopian sci-fi novel and stars Pattinson, who was seen laying in a futuristic blue body chamber in December’s 30-second teaser trailer.
We’ll have to wait a while to wrap our eyeballs around the flick, as it doesn’t hit cinemas until March 2024, but when asked about the films and what it’s like working with such big names, Ackie offered up some interesting thoughts.
‘It’s weird the first day meeting them,’ she said of working with Kravitz and Pattinson, adding: ‘And then you’re like, “oh wait, you’re someone I really respect”, so you just get over it.’
The London-born star went on: ‘It’s huge in terms of, for me, the privilege of being able to work with such talented people in different stages of their career.’
…
‘And then obviously working with Rob and Mark Ruffalo – I feel very, very lucky. [But] you put it on a shelf and get on with the work.’

This was extremely wonderful news to wake up to. First Rob confirmed for the role, not that I doubted he wouldn’t be, but now he is being joined by Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo. Mark Ruffalo and Rob in a press tour. Yes please and thank you. Like I have said in a previous post, I am loving the wit in Mickey7 and the bonus that Rob will undoubtedly play both Mickey7 and Mickey8 – two Robs on the screen at the same time. See dreams can come true.
From Deadline:
Bong Joon Ho’s follow-up film to his Oscar-winning Parasite is gaining quite the ensemble, as sources tell Deadline that Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo (whose deals are in final negotiations), along with Naomi Ackie, are joining Robert Pattinson in Bong’s next feature at Warner Bros. The untitled film is based on the novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton.
…
Following Parasite’s sweep of the Oscars including for Best Director and Best Picture, Bong has taken his time in figuring out his next steps. Towards the end of 2021, he was presented the manuscript for the unpublished book by Ashton, which immediately drew his interest. The Oscar winner became loosely attached to the project late last year and prior to the holiday break met with some of the town’s most promising stars as every A-lister in their 30s was chasing the role. It wasn’t long before Bong and execs were impressed with Pattinson following his meeting and felt he was perfect for the role, with an offer going out right before the new year. [My emphasis]
