Colin Farrell talks Robert Pattinson The Batman Script
Metro UK posted an article on Colin Farrell and The Batman quoting excerpts from his recent interview with SFX Magazine. Here’s what they had to say:
Colin Farrell is ‘excited’ about the script for Matt Reeves’ upcoming film The Batman. The actor is set to play Batman villain the Penguin opposite Robert Pattinson as the titular character.
Colin has been talking up the script to SFX magazine, teasing that fans can expect something ‘unique and new’ yet familiar at the same time. ‘The whole prospect is really exciting. I’m ecstatic to be part of that universe. There are certain words that are part of my internal lexicon and those words are Gotham City, Penguin, Joker, Batman, Bruce Wayne, Harvey Dent… all of those things,’ he said.
‘I have been watching the Batman films with my kids, but this script is something that feels incredibly original. It leans into it but it doesn’t borrow; it’s born of the mythology of that character, Bruce Wayne, Batman and Gotham. But it feels like a treatment and a version that I hadn’t seen before. ‘Matt Reeves has done an incredible job of keeping it familiar and at the same time unique and new. It’s really exciting to be a part of it.’
And I take Colin’s words seriously because who can forget his comments to MTV about Rob taking on Cosmopolis (remember Colin dropped out because of scheduling conflicts with Total Recall) – “It’s a wonderful script. I wish him all the luck in the world with it”.
