So here we are one month down and how spectacular has the introduction to 2016 already been. Dior, old photoshoot pics we hadn’t seen and … THE CHILDHOOD OF A LEADER: We started off this week with exciting news for those in Montreal and the Phi Centre screening the film. I’m jealous.  Then I came across a podcast of Brady Corbet and Mona Fastvold talking about the film during #Venezia72. It’s really interesting to hear how the film came about. Brady Corbet and Berenice Bejo will walk the red carpet at Rotterdam too. The film will also be included at the Sofia International Film Festival and the 21st Vilnius International Film Festival. Dates for both screenings are yet to be advised, but I’m loving that it’s doing the Film Festival circuit. Gives me hope we might see it here in Oz. LIFE: I tweeted a link to Télérama Film Festival which allowed you to locate a cinema screening the film near you (obviously in France). I also tweeted Flickering Myth’s list of contemporary films that highlight the Golden Age of Hollywood.  No guesses for which film was included.  Italy may finally be getting the DVD. I’ll wait to see it happen before I get too excited. I will however be excited for South Africa since they are getting Life next week on DVD. If you’re in Patra (Greece) you can watch Life at Ster Cinema on Monday and Tuesday.  Brazil should also get excited because Life is coming – no confirmed date as I type this, but I’ll keep you posted. QUEEN OF THE DESERT: So thrilled we finally got that still in better quality – that’s part of the opening scene of the film that was shown here in Australia – sorry is that a spoiler? Who knows what version will be unleashed this time around though.  I also posted that new photo but I’m pretty sure it’s a screencap. On a sad note, I tweeted the obituary for Georgina Howell – for those who have read up on Gertrude Bell they will know that Georgina had written the most thorough biography on Bell – in fact I bought it as a Christmas present. I also tweeted a great interview with Werner about his upcoming film on social media and technology in case you’re interested. GOOD TIME: I am intrigued by the makeup artists being used by the Safdie Bros. I am expecting blood and guts – there’s prison scenes after all, but I’m still curious because – well – it’s the Safdie Bros and anything goes right. THE TRAP: Richard Pis who is cast in The Trap as a “cuban pilot” posted a photo of Benecio Del Toro on his instagram and mentioned he would be shooting #TheTrap with him some time after March. I also tweeted an article where Harmony Korine mentions his next film and says “Korine is planning on making a new film later this year. “It will be the best one yet. It is ambitious. Only now am I able to make it.” Speaking of Korine, for those interested in his artwork and living in London his #Fazors artwork will be on exhibition and Harmony is giving a talk at BFI Southbank on 10 February 2016. Information here  THINGS I TWEETED:  A Hong Kong Bluray|DVD version of The Rover was apparently released on 31 December 2015.  And how about that review for The Rover – so good to see someone really understand the film. What a fabulous thing that people are still commenting and recognizing it in 2016. Maybe it’s a sleeper. The Netherlands are hosting their first Corporate Bodies Film Festival and Cosmopolis, unsurprisingly, has made the cut of the 10 films which they will be screening in February.  Rob is in New York, and no sorry I still won’t post paparazzi pics even when they show photos of Rob’s apparent “perm” (looks like a weave perm to me *shrugs*), but in any event we know Good Time is supposed to start shooting on about 8 Feb so now we wait. Looking forward to seeing what next week brings … until then.
