We started the week of with some more HQs of Rob from David Letterman that I have been waiting for since 2009.  No joke.  And then if that’s not enough I discover that Remember Me was on GEM HD (Australia) on 24 October 2015.  Like I wasn’t going to watch it again. I love that film and I’ve been fortunate enough to visit almost every place in that movie including eating at Pearl’s Diner *sigh*.  I really do love NY and Tyler. QUEEN OF THE DESERT:  North America is finally getting a premiere for the film during this year’s AFI Festival and we found out it’s 8 November 2015. It’s also a new “cut” of the film, where I pondered if there was more Rob, but according to The Film Stage it’s actually 18 minutes shorter than the Berlin screened version. Still wonder if they are holding off on general release of this film to somehow include it at the Oscars. I know others have hinted at this. The Middle East seems to be gearing up for later release dates than originally posted too. I don’t think we will see a general release of the film in Australia until 2016, much like NZ. Slovenia, however, will see 3 screenings of the film as part of the Ljubljana International Film Festival towards the middle and end of November. LIFE: Tickets for the Tokyo Film Festival were available for purchase and I tweeted about it, but on Friday I saw that the session was “SOLD OUT”.  The Japanese sure do love Rob. HIGH LIFE:  Holy FREAKING Moly. Not only do we get a bit of info about funding being thrown Claire Denis’ way, but we also find out information about the plot of the film. I won’t pretend that I’m not super excited about this movie, especially since I’m so sci-fi focused after reading The Martian. That movie was good, but I have a feeling that this film is going to be so much better. Don’t you love it when Rob fans get together and work as a team. I also came across an interview where TIFF spoke to Claire Denis about “sexiness in film” – it’s no wonder Rob’s on her radar.  Mia Goth has also joined Rob in this film and we find out even more about the plot. I have to admit, I’m not familiar with Mia’s work other than she was in Nymphomania and I believe dates Shia La Boofhead. I did see though that she just finished filming with Dane so that is coincidental. Lucky girl. THE CHILDHOOD OF A LEADER: Another day another film festival. This is so great for Brady Corbet although now he’s setting the bar high – hope he’s one of those auteur directors that likes to keep working with the same cast. Did you see that Jonathan Demme actually compared him to a young Orson Welles. That’s a pretty huge compliment. Anyway it looks like the proposed dates for the premiere are 8 November 2015 with a second screening on 9 November 2015. There’s possibly a press screening on 8 November as well, but these dates are just “prospective” for now. IN OTHER NEWS: We celebrated Michelle’s birthday in style, well RPAU style that is. I thought it fitting that we also celebrate a Throwback Thursday with some of our own photos from the BD Pt2 Fan Event in Sydney seeing as it was Michelle’s birthday that day. David Gilligan shared another fabulous video of behind the scenes shots of Rob on the set of How To Be. They are a thing of beauty and I manually cropped and saved screenshots. It was a labour of love. Kate Long who wrote “The Bad Mother’s Handbook” shared 3 photos of Rob from 2006. How gorgeous are they and it was such a treat since we have seen so little from that telemovie. Cedric “GET BACK TO THE CUP!” *sniff* I need to prepare myself for next Friday and Cindy tells me GoF is also on Netflix.  I think from memory it may also be on STAN. THINGS I TWEETED ABOUT:  Rob was mentioned in Indiewire’s article about David Cronenberg films. I loved that they said “Robert Pattinson in what many consider to be his first respectable role” when talking about Cosmopolis. I know Barbara will be thrilled at that. Variety had an interesting article about what distributors/studios were trying in order to get people back to the cinema or really how to make money from some of their films. Personally I think too many films are released at the same time and often for those of us who work, it’s impossible to get to the cinema to see them all. Back in the early days only one cinema would have the rights to screen a film and it would be on for at least a few months. I know times have moved forward, but sometimes consumerism doesn’t work. Clearly. Cassian Elwes was ecstatic that they raised the money required for the 2 female student directors to go to Sundance and he specifically thanked Rob fans saying it couldn’t have happened without them. That’s nice. Hoping we get some news next week about what is happening with the Safdie Bros film or The Trap.  My recollection is that the Trap was filming in January, but according to Maria and Production Weekly so is High Life so we shall see what unfolds. I’ll finish off this week with confirmation of what we already know – Rob is a style icon and he personifies evening wear. He sure does and I don’t know why Dior hasn’t utitlised him more to that effect.  Until next week …
