What a week this turned out to be.  Where to start.  I listened to the full interview with Harmony Korine.  I’m going to ignore the fact that he said “Robert Pattinson, I think”.  Everyone else seems to have.  They are clearly playing their cards close to their chests, and who can blame them, I’m sure there are some booking their tickets to Miami as I type lol.  The interview was done at The Bowery in New York during the 20 year anniversary of “Kids” so it’s a recent interview.  Like I said, playing their cards close to their chest.  I also came across a press release on DCM Production’s website confirming that DCMFilm will be distributing “The Trap” in all German territories in 2017. Lucky ducks.  Now let’s talk Rob’s other films.  LOST CITY OF Z:  Shhhh Rob and Charlie are in Dublin, but until I hear “that’s a wrap” I’m going to quietly enjoy the fact that this movie is almost underway.  @RobsPromotion gave us the heads up that principal photography will start on or about 16/17 August 2015.  I tweeted an article about the cinematographer Darius Khondji and found some new castmates.  Oh and CineElectric continue to keep us up to date on LCoZ being on track.  Happy Days.  LIFE:  Turkey finally made up its mind about releasing “LIFE” in October rather than September.  I tweeted that Barry Films (production co) confirmed on their website that LIFE would be released in all major territories in September.  VUE cinemas (UK) have a link to be notified when tickets are available, so I tweeted about that too.  Film4 shared the UK Life poster and I don’t think I’m the only one that noticed how similar it was to Jules’ gorgeous creation oops I said that out loud didn’t I.  We will ignore the fact that CIAK Mag actually took time to remove Jules’ watermark of both her name and RPAU because let’s face it – Jules’ work was published in a legit movie magazine!  *happyDavidclaps*.   Annnddd it’s rumoured Rob will attend the French premiere on 5 September 2015, to be held during the Deauville American Film Festival.  It also looks like the promo for Life is in underway with the interview in Jolie magazine that was translated so quickly by @nicole2dogs.   QUEEN OF THE DESERT:  Full steam ahead with release dates *sideeyesTransmission*.   Not sure if that French date is 100% correct, but it seems weird that they would randomly pick that date.  I found that Empire Cinema will release in Lebanon in October, although I noticed others claimed to have done so too.  What a coincidence!  The world is such an uncanny place.  THINGS I TWEETED:  Benny Safdie graced our shores and attended the Melbourne International Film Festival.  There were some interesting tweets during this Q&A after Heaven Knows What.  Guess we can figure out what the Safdie Brothers think of those who hang around movie sets.  I also tweeted a link to the audio interview ABC did with Benny.  If you like listening to how a director works, then you should listen to this.  I genuinely love listening to directors who work with Rob as it gives great insight into why Rob wants to work with them.  I also stumbled across a forum where Harmony Korine’s “The Trap” was being discussed, but that’s not what caught my eye, it was comments like “pattinson will be one of the best when all is said and done” and “Pattinson takeover in full effect”.  Fanboys are the best.  So that’s all I’ve got to say this week other than ending with “LIFE” trailer is supposed to be unleashed next week.  Film4 – you better not have lied to us .. Until next week.

Having Jules published is a huge triumph. I am so excited for her. The posters are gorgeous!

As far as projects go… I’m learning I like them like my eggs – free range. I don’t mind waiting and have some not work out. That is the organic process and produces much better results than the factory products. I’m not counting my chickens just yet with Z but all the signs are looking good.

The Harmony Korine forum had some awesome quotes. – Wow

    Thanks Maria. Bloody amazing!

Late to the party (it’s Tueday night for me) but thanks again for these awesome weekly wrap-ups, Maria. I no longer have the luxury of coming here every day, so I feel like I’m missing all sorts of stuff until I read your ‘column’. I like Carmel’s approach, however I’m not that forgiving when things fall through at the last minute. It must be a terrible blow to all concerned when funding is suddenly pulled on the eve of production. My only consolation when Rob is no longer attached to a movie is that he’s having a nice, long holiday!
