The Playlist are getting in early with their Oscar predictions for 2015. Â Their predictions are indeed as they say, premature seeing as the movies have not yet been released, but I LOVE that they mention Rob in the snippet below. Â Smart peeps. Â Oh how I cannot wait for Life, Â how fantastic is it going to be.
Honorable Mentions: The late James Gandolfini has another chance at a nod—his final filmed role, in Tom Hardy-starring crime thriller “The Drop” (formerly known as “Animal Rescue”) lands in early fall. But it’s probably a longer shot, given that he missed out for “Enough Said.” Speaking of Hardy, he’s starring in “Child 44,” which has a part for Paddy Considine that could prove awards-friendly if the film’s anything more than a genre picture.
Elsewhere, you could also keep an eye out for Aaron Paul in “Exodus,” Neil Patrick Harris in “Gone Girl,” Shia LaBeouf in “Fury,” Adam Driver in “This Is Where I Leave You” or “While We’re Young,” Ewan McGregor in “Jane Got A Gun,” Edward Norton in “Birdman,’ Domhnall Gleeson in “Unbroken,” John Goodman in “The Gambler,” Toby Jones or Rhys Ifans in “Serena,” Kyle Chandler in “Carol,” Martin Sheen in “Trash,” Sam Riley in “Suite Française,” Matthias Schoenaerts for that film, “A Little Chaos,” or “Far From The Madding Crowd,” and Robert Pattinson for “Life.” (my emphasis)
Any mention of The Oscars and Rob in the same sentence is a smart move. We know it will happen. It is just a matter of when. 2015 would be wonderful!
Interesting about James Gandolfini and Child 44. I read that book when Rob was mentioned for the roll and absolutely loved it. I’m glad the film seems to have done the book justice. I’ll look forward to that one too.
Being a Rob fan pays off in all sorts of ways
Sorry, I just realised it was Tom Hardy attached to Child 44. My apologies to Paul
When I saw this in the morning I thought – how can you make a prediction without seeing the film, but then I realised they have faith and can see what others don’t want to or choose not to see.
I’d love for Rob to be nominated one day for an Oscar – he doesn’t have to win it – just be nominated would be fantastic. He’s had a film in competition at Cannes and people thought he wouldn’t even have a career post Twilight. And Cannes announcements are just around the corner .. who knows what will be included in competition for 2014.
Fortunately, no-one needs to tell us to “keep an eye out” for Rob. A much bigger problem (?) for me seems to be dragging my eye AWAY from him, as I’d really rather have BOTH eyes planted on him 100% of the time. Rob and an Oscar nomination? Bring it on!
ADORE that photo you’ve chosen for this post, Michelle. Talk about boys with shiny new toys!!
Nice to think about, but I’m more interested in Rob having a very long, prolific and varied career as an actor. LOL @Sue – I know what you mean!
Agree with you girls – great to see his name on this list even if all a bit premature with the films not being released yet but yes – it will happen one day soon, I firmly believe that too. The future is so so bright. 🙂
At Carmel – I loooooove Child 44 trilogy. love. Rob will always be my Leo. 😉
