I could ramble on about Jacob for days, but thank Rob for having done such a magnificent job of bringing his essence to life, I don’t need to.  Rob’s performance speaking for itself, you can see, feel and understand him through every single nuance that Rob brings to the screen.  I can’t imagine this movie without him and am forever grateful Rob decided to go with this role.  Such a beautiful well written story, which was backed up by quality cast and a richness in cinematography I’ve not seen in years.  A visual feast I tell ya!

There are many aspects to Jacob and today I’ve chosen to celebrate Rob’s opportunity to showcase Jacob’s pureness of heart.

When Jacob is told by August to take control and jab Rosie – there is a shift in Jacob’s eyes when he realises what’s going down.  This is then followed by the non committal body language and my heart sinks for his understanding, each and every bloody time I watch.  A testament to Rob’s ability to portray Jacobs innocence, a naivety and I especially fell in love with Rob’s ability to make a huge impact with subtle seconds of helplessness when dealing with inner/outer conflict, which carries over to the next scene Maria was kind enough to edit for us.
The 2nd part to this clip takes us to where Jacob catches on that his buddy has been thrown off the train.  Intense moments for Jacob as he discovers a knife and heads over to take care of August. While loving Rob’s work here, I’m clutching to the edge of my seat in the state theatre (where am still reeling from having seen Rob in the flesh) and freaking the hell out.  Although I’d read the book and knew what was coming, Rob had me hooked regardless. With his face all beat up and a little wet from the rain (ahem), he enters the bedroom where the married couple lay, but only one sleeps.  I love how Rob speaks with his eyes.
