The post title  is not a typo – that’s how I feel after reading “Breaking Dawn Part 1 casting & auditions information” on Acting 411 Blog. This site has been pretty reliable before, so I’m not doubting them, but as they say Summit hasn’t officially confirmed that the film is to be made yet, but they don’t usually until last minute or after the fact – very true Acting 411. They say that filming should start in early 2010 and they are aiming for a 2011 release and so I guess they really do have to start the casting process – loads of extras in that second part. If you’re interested you should click on the link. Sorry Twilight fans and affiliates, but if there was ever a film(s) that I wish Rob would have to pull out of because of filming conflicts (score Bel-Ami is being filmed early 2010) it’s this. Note to Rob: please don’t pull out of Bel-Ami because I will be devastated if I have to watch Eddie again rather than Georges and I may have to go to Volterra myself and ask them to destroy me! (Don’t worry I know I’m not a vampire, but that’s just a technicality – right). Photo thanks to Celebuzz.
Agree with you completely on this Maria as you know. BD is my least favourite book out of the four & I have been hoping so very much they wouldn’t make it into one movie let alone two. Is just very hard to see how they are going to stick to the book & keep it at the required PG rating. Definitely no offense to the Twilight fans & affiliates, it is just the way I feel. I cannot wait to see Rob as Georges & if he has to pull out of Bel Ami to do BD I am just going to be so distraught. LOL, will have to join you in your trip to Volterra Maria. I do love Rob as Eddie of course I do, but could not bear to see him miss the opportunity at a great role such as Georges Duroy in Bel Ami because of it.
They will make Breaking Dawn, because if they don’t they are gonna have millions of devisted Twilight fans (like myself) howling in sorrow (no pun intended) and really if they are going to the effort to make Eclipse why would they stop there? It wouldn’t make sence. It would be unfortunate if Rob had to pull out of Bel Ami due to BD however, persoanlly I feel that it would benefit Rob more if he completed the Saga, can you imagine BD with someone else playing Edward just because he wanted to do Bel Ami – I hate to think of it – but i totally get where you guys are coming from though, I love seeing Rob in new characters just as much as anyone. Have a great night and a great Friday guys:) Love always. Sam.
Must admit I’m with Tamajin on this one – am aching to see Rob and Kristen do BD and finish off this glorious story arc
How can Rob pull out of BA if he signed a contract to do it? Summit already said they didn’t know when they would start filming BD because of Robs filming schedule for 2010
@Temajin – thanks Temajin, but I dream about someone else playing Eddie in this film. I just can’t see how they are able to stick to the book in order for it to not be R rated. Anyway that’s why I put my disclaimer in about not wanting to offend Twifans. I’m glad you saw it from our point of view. It’s just BD is my least favourite of the saga – I really don’t like what she did with the characters, but that’s my personal opinion.
@Wanga – Rob had signed a contract to appear in Parts Per Billion earlier this year too, but he had to pull out of that film because of New Moon. So I guess depends on whose got the better lawyers.
@Temajin – sorry I was meant to ask – how is Rob going to benefit by completing the saga? Again, if I had to choose I would rather see him play the character of Georges Duroy rather than Edward. Have you seen him in Little Ashes – his performance as Eddie is great, his performance as Salvador is brilliant.
I agree somewhat with everyone on this. I’d hate to see Rob not finish the saga off as I’ve come to love his character ( I dont how theyre going to keep it pg rated either Maria).
However Id be devasted if he has to pull out of BA. I think rob will be fantastic in this roll. Will show everyone else his versatility as an actor.
That’s some pretty damning evidence, doesn’t leave much room for the idealist in me to dream Rob can do both and that someone has to change their production dates. I understand in reality, this isn’t the way things work, but I want to see Rob complete this Twi project he’s invested so much time into already – and I really want to see him succeed in delivering more challenging characters such as Georges. If it came to the crunch, I’d prefer Bel-Ami over Breaking Dawn, but I’d probably still feel uneasy about it. If Rob had to back out of Bel-Ami, then I think I’d be pretty pissed. (I guess my preference is to see Rob grow as an artist rather than my drooling over Eddie)
At the end of the day, I just hope Rob has the final say – but alas, it will probably boil down to Nick and the lawyers as Maria stated above.
I may sound spoilt when I say I want it all, but it’s the truth.
Oh and the PG rating for BD raises some fears with me too…
I am with M&M on this one. Will be devastated if we don’t get to see Rob as Georges, Breaking Dawn…….meh! Not that I don’t enjoy seeing Rob play Edward but I am really looking forward to seeing Rob branch out of the Twi Saga and be more challenged with new roles and really blow everyone away with his talent.
Just wanted to add a further comment to my previous one now I have to the time to do it properly. Sorry it may be quite long lol. I do love Rob as Eddie, of course I do. I love all of Rob’s characters & he is amazing in each & every one. Like I said before, I am not really a fan of BD, this is just my personal opinion & in no way do I want to offend anyone who are fans of the book. I know there are a lot of fans who want to see this book brought to the screen & I respect that. I really enjoyed the first 3 books & am very excited to see Rob in NM & Eclipse. I wasn’t aware of the saga previously & only came to know the books through being a fan of Rob & him being cast as Eddie. I remember how upset I was when Rob had to pull out of Parts Per Billion earlier this year, due to his NM schedule & I just would be so devastated if that was to happen again with Bel Ami due to BD filming. Rob is absolutely wonderful as Edward, no other actor in my opinion could have portrayed him as well, believable & with so much feeling as Rob. He has put so much hard work into this character & role & is something to be very proud of. If I did have to choose however between seeing Rob as Edward once again or Georges Duroy in Bel Ami, the easy winner is going to be Georges. Rob would be amazing as Georges, he is so very different to anything Rob has done before & I know he would portray him just brilliantly. Rob really does just excel in challenging roles & they give him the opportunity to show his full range of talent & also how versatile he is whereas Eddie as a character although he is challenging, in my opinion a little bit limiting. You only have to see for example, his performance as Toby in The Haunted Airman & my most favourite of all thus far, Salvador Dali in LA to see how much talent he has. I know not everyone has seen Rob in Little Ashes but to say he was brilliant in this beautiful movie is a total understatement. Rob absolutely nailed every aspect of this character & no matter how many times I watch the movie I just continue to be amazed with his portrayal of Dali. Roles like these are ones where Rob has the opportunity to just truly shine. I guess what my main point is I don’t want Rob to have to miss out on amazing roles such as Bel Ami because he is tied to the Twilight saga. I look forward to him being free so he can have the freedom to take on other roles as he chooses.
I guess all we can do is wait & see what unfolds. I just do hope that Rob has the final say in this. Afterall, we all only want what is best for Rob & his career & for him to be truly happy in whatever he is doing.
Sorry about the long comment but when it comes to Rob I have a lot to say lol.
I don’t get it. How can they cast for a movie without a director?
Summit has been pretty cagey about BD and part of that has to be to do with the fact that it will be extraordinarily challenging to bring the book to the screen without making it laughable or melodramatic (I’m not a BD fan either, can you tell?). The key to doing that will be firstly a good scrpit, but secondly a brilliant director. There was plenty of talk about NM and Eclipse directors but I have seen practically none about BD.
As for the two films clashing, surely Rob is a big enough draw now that the schedules will be arranged to accomodate him. Despite his paucity of box office showings, no producer could be blind to the hype that surrounds him which will translate into the revenue he will generate.
@Claude – lol good script, so they will have to get rid of Rosenberg for a start. Sorry I’m not a fan of hers either. I hope Rob’s a big enough draw too, but it didn’t help Little Ashes. Not even limited release in Australia and believe me – we tried. Only interested in cashing in on Rob as long as he can bring the Twifans with him, so I guess it will depend on what rating Bel-Ami will have and from what I understand you would think it would have to be MA+ or R (Australian ratings), but could be wrong. Oh and I agree I’m not sure how they are going to make it to the screen without parts of it being laughable. I’ve just realised – BD is probably going to be Rob’s most challenging role to date – for all the wrong reasons.
To add my 5 cents worth, I agree with you Michelle and Maria! Although I am a big fan of all the Twilight Books, BD was my least favourite as I was picturing them all as they progressed, and it just doesn’t really gel. BD is only two years down the line from Twilight, which makes Jacob what? 17 or 18! Rob is the oldest and most mature of them all, so needs to make informed choices now!
@Michelle – are you sure you don’t have anything further to add? LOL.
@lise-lou – i know he is a very talented man. The best is yet to come too I suspect.
@vertigo – PG rating, imagine.
